Grammy-winning music producer Jermaine Dupri has claimed thatGrand Theft Auto 6will feature custom radio stations that celebrities can upload their music to, with Drake specifically mentioned as an example.
Without a doubt, one of the most iconic parts of the wholeGrand Theft Autoexperience iscruising around and listening to each game’s radio stations. From West Coast Classics to Flashback 95.6, GTA’s radio stations are just as important to the series as stealing cars and shooting pedestrians. Come on, we’ve all done it.
Outside of the bangers that we’ve heard so far in GTA 6’s various trailers, we don’t know that much about how music is going to work in the long-awaited game so far. If a Grammy-winning music producer is to be believed, though, radio stations are going to be a massive leap from GTA 5and potentially have constant input from popular artists.
Drake Could Be Getting His Own Radio Station In GTA 6
As pointed out by VideoGamerandoriginally reported by RockstarINTEL, Jermaine Dupri recently spoke about Grand Theft Autoduring the latest episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast, where he suggested that Rockstar “asked me to do Grand Theft Auto”, before revealing more potential details about the game’s music.
Dupri also suggested that Rockstar said that Drake was getting his own radio station in GTA, and that the way it was tackling music in the game was that Drake (and presumably other celebrities with radio stations) would be able to “upload music” whenever they want. While this could specifically mean just Drake, it does seem to imply that custom and updated radio stations from celebrities are going to be a thing in GTA 6.
I am begging for a Sabrina Carpenter radio station in GTA 6. Make it happen, Rockstar.
Although Dupri doesn’t outright say GTA 6, it seems like such a leap forward from GTA 5’s radio stations that he’s likely talking about the next game in the series instead of the current iterations. The live music angle does make it sound more like it’s for GTA 6’s online modethan single-player, but the function could work in both single-player and online modes.
At the moment, we don’t know enough about GTA 6’s radio stations to know exactly what Dupri means, as his claims can be taken in a number of ways. From the sounds of it, though, certain artists and celebrities are going to have control over their own radio stations in GTA 6, whether that be for the online mode, single-player, or both.
