If you’ve not ownedGrand Theft Auto 3yet, there’s a good chance you never will. The game turns 25 next year and has been released on numerous platforms, including thePS2,PC,Xbox, and Mobile, before being remastered and rereleased as part ofGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition. As of 2008, the game was reported to havesold 14.5 million copies, with a massive number likely sold since then.

If you’re one of the few who haven’t owned the title yet, you’ve just missed out on your opportunity to secure it for free. Unfortunately, however, it was only available on one platform for a limited time, so it seems like somebody atRockstarmay have made a mistake.

Grand Theft Auto 3 Temporarily Became Grand Theft Auto Free This Morning

Early this morning, the price of Grand Theft Auto 3 on iOS dropped to free, down from £4.99/$4.99. The news was quickly circulated online, with it gaining traction on multipledeal-sharing websites. Unfortunately, no sooner did the price drop to zero than it was back to full price, taking around an hour for Rockstar to rectify things.

Those who managed to claim the deal will have full access to it on both their iPads and iPhones, but for those looking to get their GTA 3 fix free of charge, you’ve missed the boat. Thankfully, it’s still nottooexpensive, but there’s nothing better than free games.
