Obsidian has confirmed in a recent interview that Grounded 2’s content updates will be much more spaced out than in the first game, but there’s a good reason for it.

Last month’s Xbox Games Showcase had a lot of surprising reveals, from theannouncement of Double Fine’s next gameto the long-awaitedconfirmation of Persona 4’s remake. As exciting as those were, though, one of the biggest moments came whenObsidian announced that it’s working on a sequel to Grounded.

The announcement was just the start of the surprises, though, as it was also revealed thatGrounded 2 is going to be launching in Early Access in just a few weeks on July 29. Even though the Early Access release schedule is familiar to Grounded fans, it seems it’ll be rather different from the first game.

You Might Have To Wait A Bit Longer For Grounded 2 Updates Than In The First Game

It Sounds Like It’ll Be Worth It, Though

Earlier today,PC Gamer shared an interesting reveal from its interview with Grounded 2’s director, Chris Parker. During the interview, Parker discussed the update plans for Grounded 2 and confirmed that players will be looking at waiting between four and five months for each content drop.

Parker explained that the team tried to do monthly updates with the first game, but that it was “a hassle” and “didn’t work”. This time around, though, the team is slowing things down so that it can give itself more time to deliver on more exciting content than the smaller updates we had in the past.

Parker noted that theupdates will be more similar to what the original Grounded was getting later on in its life, and pointed out that the team introduced “a huge chunk of whatever area of the yard, with all-new creatures, armour, new equipment, new mechanics”. It sounds like the updates are going to be much more substantial this time around.

It didn’t make the community happy and it didn’t make the team happy. So we are looking at longer, meatier updates that are in the four to five month range. - Chris Parker

Alongside that,Parker also confirmed that there will be more of a story to follow in Grounded 2 than in the first game, which is presumably something that will also be developed with more time. Essentially, you’ll need to be a bit more patient with Grounded 2, but it’s hopefully going to be worth sticking around for.
