It looks likeGrounded 2is going to be in early access for quite some time – roughly two years, according to executive producer Marcus Morgan. The previous title also took about two years, and Morgan thinks that Grounded 2 will require the same amount of time, or, “As long as we need to to get the game right.” However, he also teased that it may come to other consoles too.
In an interview withEurogamer, Morgan spoke about how long we can expect the game’s early access period to run for and about if we’ll see it come to PlayStation consoles. As of now, it’s only available on Xbox and PC, with no official word about if it will come to PlayStation.
Grounded 2 Might Come To PlayStation
“We don’t plan on being in early access forever,” said Morgan, “but you definitely need the time. We were in early access for Grounded 1 for about two years and that gave us enough time to meaningfully take community feedback and actually adjust the game. Roughly that window again, but the appropriate amount of time to make it right.”
When asked if the game will be coming to PlayStation consoles, Morgan was less upfront, but gave a cheeky indication that it just might. “Can’t talk about that right now. But I will say that Grounded 1 is on all of those platforms so…” he smiled. Of course, this is in no way a confirmation, but it does feel like he’s alluding to it.
Unfortunately, Obsidian hasn’t yet given a straight answer on a potential PlayStation launch, so we’ll just have to wait and watch.
While the early access will kick off in a few days,Obsidian has warned that we should prepare for long waits between updates. Director Chris Parker explained that the community didn’t particularly like the previous game’s monthly updates, so Obsidian will be holding off for “longer, meatier updates that are in the four to five month range.”
He also revealed that Grounded 2 will have more of a narrative to follow than the previous game.
