Fans who are knee-deep inGrounded 2have hit a roadblock. Due to the lack of a Tier 3 Omni Tool (it hasn’t been released in-game yet), mining Tier 3 materials is currently (supposed to be) out of the question. Some players, however, have banded together to figure out a solution, and ORC Weevils seem to be just that.
Over on the Grounded subreddit, fans have asked, “How do they expect me to mine tier 3 stuff…” when there’s currently no streamlined method to do so. Without an efficient Omni Tool available in the current preview build of Grounded 2, it seems impossible, but boy, the internet has answered the call. The key lies with another creepy crawler that inhabits Brookhollow Park.
After defeating a Garden Snail (or finding the shell lying around), fans have noticed they cannotmine tier 3 materialsfrom it the old-fashioned way. Tier 3 materials from the snail shell are required to craft the, you guessed it, Tier 3 Snail Shell Armor for players, and fans have recruited another creature, namely the ORC Weevil, to do the mining for them. ORC Weevils are similar to Minecraft’s Creepers in the way that if players get too close to them, they can explode and ‘instant kill’ you with one tap.
While other explosives (like the tier 1 and tier 2 bombs) do not affect tier 3 mining materials, ORC Weevils seem to do the trick.

While players have been building Snail Shell graveyards in their respective versions of the Park, some fans have channelled their inner MacGuyver and have developed a workaround. To the question posed on Reddit, user RolyPolyCowboy says, “You can use 2-3 ORC Weevil explosions to break a snail shell,” and commenters have sounded off, taking the suggestion into action.
Tier 3 materials are expected to be unlocked inGrounded 2’s Winter Update, and another workaround to craft Snail Shell Armor was also exposed on Reddit. One Commenter said Snail Shell parts can be found later in the narrative, so if fans are only looking to upgrade their armor to Tier 3, it can happen without Omni Tool or ORC Weevil intervention.
Until Tier 3 becomes fully unlocked, Grounded 2 players can clean up their snail graveyards by deploying ORC Weevil explosions. Just don’t get caught in the blast.
