Summary
Grounded 2was just revealed at theXbox Games Showcase. Not only is this yet anotherObsidiangame, it’s another Obsidian gamelaunching this year.Or, at least, one that will be playable this year.
We’ll be able to play the next Grounded on July 29, as it releases in early access through Steam and Xbox Game Preview. This comes five years after the launch of the first Grounded, and Obsidian has a lot to show for it.
Here’s Our First Look At Grounded 2
The trailer opens on a cinematic, before cutting to some gameplay, showing just how far along this sequel is in development - which isn’t surprising, considering that we’ll be playing it next month.
Ablog postfrom Xbox gives us more of an idea of what’s in store for us.
“Set in the all-new Brookhollow Park and featuring the return of our teen heroes, this continuation brings major quality-of-life upgrades like the all-in-one Omni-Tool and delivers on one of the community’s most requested features: rideable Buggies,” the blog reads. “It’s not just a sequel—it’s the follow-up fans were hoping for, packed with sharper tools, weirder bugs, and enough callbacks to make you wonder if we’ve been lurking in your forum threads (spoiler: we have).”
Early access will be available on Xbox and PC, and will be accessible at no extra cost if you already have a Game Pass subscription. The first Grounded game has been ported to PS5 and Switch, so it’s likely that Grounded 2 will end up on them eventually, just not when its early access goes live in July.
To say that Oblivion is having a busy year is an understatement. In February, we gotAvowed, an open-world RPG that takes place in Obisidian’s own fantasy setting, the world of Eora. Now, the showcase has not only revealed that we’ll be playing Grounded 2 in July, but thatwe’ll get our hands on The Outer Worlds 2 on October 29. So, that’s three major releases, two of which are full games, and two of which are long-awaited sequels.
