Grounded 2was just released in early access earlier today, bringing fans of the series a huge new world to explore and a lot more nasty foes to overcome (or cower from if you’re not too fond of spiders). Of course, being in early access means there’s plenty of stuff in the works for Grounded 2, and clear communication is a requirement for any successful early access title.
Thankfully, developer Obsidian Entertainment appears to have nailed down that particular aspect, as despite the game having only been released literally hours ago, a massive roadmap of upcoming additions has already been shared on social media.
Grounded 2 Roadmap Reveals New Bugs, Biomes, And The Return Of Ziplines
Shared via Grounded 2’s various social media accounts, Obsidian has outlined everything that will be coming to the game in the next year and beyond. Over the next 12 months, Grounded 2 will get Fall, Winter, and Summer updates, each one bringing a variety of new additions and features to bulk out the base game.
Fall will seemingly focus on AXL, as a variety of recipes, armor, and weapons revolving around it will be added, as will a Park Boss with AXL itself. On top of that, we’ll be getting a Building Grid, some minor improvements to buggies, and some quality of life changes.
The game’s Winter and Summer updates are definitely a lot chunkier though. Winter will see new insects added to the game, those being Earwigs (ew) and Crickets, while existing insects will get new varieties. On top of that, we’ll also be getting a bunch of new things to improve our bases, new Tier 3 equipment to work towards, and what appears to be a new biome that Obsidian is keeping quiet about for now.
Summer is understandably a bit more vague, though Obsidian does tease that ziplines will return, which was a fan-favorite feature from the first game that’s currently missing at the moment. It’s also teasing watery buggies, creatures, and bases, which implies that the biome that Obsidian is keeping hidden is almost definitely The Water Feature.
Finally, Obsidian briefly outlines things coming to the game beyond next summer, including two new biomes, one of which fans reckon is a jungle biome underneath a jungle gym, which would make sense given a playground is coming. Passive mutations, more creatures, and something called “Colossi” are also being added. No idea what that means, but I’m terrified about finding out.
