Summary
Gears of War: Reloaded was announced earlier this week, adding another of Xbox’s biggest franchises to PlayStation systems.Xbox fans haven’t been taking the news well, as this furthers the narrative thatXboxis on the way out of the console game, and now a new reveal about the game’s physical version is making matters worse.
Microsoft has been a bit shaky with its support for physical releases, with games likeForza Horizon 5andThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredbeing digital only, but it appears as thoughGears of War: Reloadedwill thankfully be getting physical versions. However, not every platform is supported, as Microsoft seems to be skipping the one console you’d naturally assume they’d support.
Gears Of War: Reloaded Is Getting A Physical Release On PS5 And PC, Not Xbox
Yep, that’s right.According to the Spanish Twitter account for video game retailer GAME(first spotted byReddit user Hot-Cause-481), Gears of War: Reloaded is getting physical versions for both PS5 and PC, but not Xbox. In the tweet, it claims GAME currently only has “notifications for PS5 and PC versions”, and links to listings on its website.
That means a game made and published by Xbox is skipping a physical release for its own console, which sounds like a completely bizarre decision, but is a good indicator as to where Xbox’s priorities are at the moment.
Of course, it’s worth noting that physical PC releases are exceedingly rare these days, but are a bit more common in Europe, so it’s possible GAME and Xbox are catering to Europeans with these listings. It’s very possible territories that have more Xbox users may see a physical release, but we still have no news on that front, and only PS5 and PC are confirmed right now.
