WhileGears of War: Reloadedisn’tdue out until August, this weekendit’s set to have a cross-platform open beta, where long-time fans can see all the improvements, andPlayStationgamers can see what they’ve been missing out on for decades.
Unfortunately, for all parties involved, it looks like the beta is not off to a smooth start, as connectivity issues, plus other problems, are impacting players' ability to, well, play.
Few Things Are Worse Than A Beta That Simply Doesn’t Work
All throughout the Gears of War subreddit, there’s no shortage of posts showing players struggling to connect with others online, leading one player to redub the title as Gears of War: Loading.
If that wasn’t enough, some players aren’t even able to access the beta,as their free upgrade to Reloaded for owning the original Gears of War: Ultimate Editionstill hasn’t arrived.
For those who have managed to play the beta, well, it’s fun. It’s Gears of War, after all, just a lot prettier and with some other improvements. There’salso first-time PlayStation players finding out about the kind of weapons that exist in the world of Gears.
In response to the ongoing issues, the Gears Community account has notedthat they are “investigating” the problems and will update players throughout the weekend.
At the moment, it’s unclear if the beta will be extended in order to compensate those who’ve yet to receive a code, along with those who’ve had persistent issues getting in. Thankfully, this won’t be the only beta weekend. As Xbox Wire notes, it’s a two-weekend test, meaning things should be better in a week.
