Who could dare assume how the Emperor works? It’s been a while since we heard thatHenry Cavill may be in talks with Amazon and Games Workshop for a Warhammer 40,000 live-action series. Since then, we’ve only received one update, saying thatthe project and the storyline has been greenlit. It’s been radio silence since then.

This last update was in December, 2024, and there’s been nothing for seven months, exceptone off-hand mention about itby Cavill. You’d think that the parties involved would want to reveal something about the project to build up hype – like which part of the 40K universe the series would adapt. However, we now know why there’s been no news about it.

Games Workshop And Amazon Don’t Want To Reveal A Thing About The 40K Series

When entities such as Amazon and Games Workshop are involved, you can bet that the contract pages will number in the hundreds. As spotted byIGN, Games Workshop revealed the reason behind the silence in its recent investor meeting. As you’ve guessed, the contractual agreement prohibits any information being shared.

“On 29 June 2025 we announced the conclusions of our negotiations with Amazon for the adaptation of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe into films and television series, together with associated merchandising rights. The project continues in line with our contractual agreement with Amazon. This same contract prohibits us from sharing any specific details or commercial terms,” says the statement.

“This is a long-term partnership with Amazon and there won’t be any significant news in the short term — these things take several years to bring to market.”

Games Workshop makes a living off its collectibles and tabletop accessories, and is very protective of them. Recently, it evenserved a cease and desist to popular YouTuber Galactic Armouryfor giving out 3D print files of the Space Marine 2 helmet. So you can be sure that the company wants to hold its cards close, as this will be a big gamble. The same goes for Amazon.

Of course, what this means is that we’re not going to get any news about the Warhammer 40,000 live action series for a while.
