There are dozens of four-star characters on the Wanderlust Invocation banner inGenshin Impact, the standard banner that remains faithfully there at all times, just waiting for you to ascend your collected characters and earn some Acquaint Fates to pull.
We’d always hope for a five-star character, of course, but there are some solid four-stars on the indefinite Wanderlust Invocation banner as well. We’ve got a spread of DPS, sub-DPS, and support characters included in our list of the best four-star characters on the standard banner in Genshin Impact, with a variety of elemental damage to help you across Teyvat.

Support
If you’re not already relying on Anemo users in battle (especially once you get some that are better than the default Anemo Traveler), then Faruzan is a must-get character with her impressive ability to buff other Anemo users with her skills. She’s practically made to beon a team with other Anemo users.
Faruzan isn’t the best when it comes to outright damage-dealing herself, but she’s invaluable in a support role on a team. She’s able to destroy enemy’s Anemo resistances and allow for some pretty powerful follow-ups from the right team.
DPS
If you’re looking for a splash of Electro power that helps both on and off-field,Beidou is one of the best options. She’s the captain of the ship that takes you into Inazuma, but we hope you won’t be saying goodbye to her there! Her Skill has a bit of a cooldown, but the Elemental Burst is where Beidou really shines, especially with the right team comp.
Beidou’s Elemental Burst is one of the best options for dealing off-field Electro damage. If you pair her Electro shield with someone who’s good at dealing Hydro or Dendro damage, you’ll be inflicting a variety of upgraded elemental reaction types of attacks.
Sucrose is our first S-tier four-star character on this list in Genshin Impact, and she’s certainly earned her keep on our team. Her best use is on teams going for Swirl damage, since she’s able to output impressive Anemo effects that you may easily follow up on with a teammate of another element to compound the impact.
Not only that, though, but Sucrose can tactfully raise the team’s Elemental Mastery, so pairing her with your best Electro or Pyro users to inflict some even more intense Swirls wouldn’t ever be a bad idea.
If you’re running a team composed of Pyro and Electro characters, you’d do well to recruit Chevreuse to round out the party, given her impressive resistance shredding when it comes to foes on the field. When you pair her with the correct team, Chevreuse is an invaluable supporting Pyro character.
Not only is she able to decrease these resistances to allow other, more DPS-focused characters to move in and strike, but she also buffs the party’s Attack when this resistance is lowered. She’s got healing abilities as well, rounding Chevreuse out as a great support.
Getting the hang of using Gaming might take a bit if you’re not familiar with Plunge characters when you get him, but Gaming is one of the best drivers when it comes to applying Pyro damage to follow up on a few big elemental reactions. His skill times out perfectly with the timer in which other elemental reactions are valid, allowing you to output some pretty impressive damage.
You may want to bring a healer for Gaming teams, though, since he’ll do a decent bit of damage to himself pulling off all those daring Plunge attacks.
It’s not often we’ll rank a sub-DPS character on these lists, but Fischl definitely takes the cake on this one. If you’re trying to play on a team that focuses on elemental reactions, especially with Electro attacks, then Fischl and her bird Oz are invaluable. She’ll send him out to attack and man, will he, applying Electro damage to enemies all over the field.
She’ll improve her own damage output in time as you increase her constellation, but with the right Energy Recharge plan, Fischl can send Oz onto the field almost consistently, assuring you’ll never be without Electro damage if she can help it.
Moving now into the characters in the SS-tier, Xiangling is one of the easiest sub-DPS characters, especially of the Pyro users, to master how to use. She’s quick and nimble with impressive damage and support, even before you get her adorable fire-breathing bear Guoba out onto the field to shoot fire with her.
One of the best perks of Guoba, though, is that Xiangling doesn’t need to be on the field for him to get to work. She can toss him out to do his business applying good Pyro damage to enemies that can easily be chased with an Electro character to trigger consistent Overloads without Xiangling on field to take damage herself.
The newest Genshin Impact character to make it onto our list, Iansan is our first SS-tier support character. Her abilities scale off Attack and Energy Recharge, too, making her pretty easy to use mid-battle, especially if you’ve got the right artifacts on her. While you’d do well to use her with characters who move a lot, her Attack buff is one of the best.
Especially if you use her with the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set like we’ve recommended above, Iansan can reduce her cooldown time to next to nothing, allowing you to consistently buff the team throughout any fight.
Even when pitted againstsome of the five-star charactersfrom event banners, Bennett manages to rise above the group and remain one ofthebest supports you could possibly hope for in Genshin Impact. If you’ve got a DPS character on the field who scales with Attack, you couldn’t give them a better fellow combatant than Bennett.
Not only will Bennett be buffing your attackers, though, he’s also a really potent healer. With the right setup for his Energy Recharge, you can almost spam his Elemental Burst throughout the fight to keep the team in tip-top shape.
While Xingqiu can deal an alright amount of damage on his own, if you’re looking to apply a large amount of Hydro damage to a large range of enemies all at once to follow up with another elemental reaction, Xingqiu is easily thebest sub-DPS character for the job. With so many good Hydro application chances, you’re all set for other reactions right away.
You’ll need to be careful of Xingqiu being wet himself, but with such a quick cooldown on his skills and plenty of ways to soak your enemies, Xingqiu plays well on teams chasing reactions like Freeze or Vaporize to inflict maximum damage.
