Two days ago, it was reported thatMicrosoftwasplanning a round of “major layoffs"that would impact theXboxbrand as soon as this week. Specifically,“substantial cuts” were being reported, which could see several hundred employees laid off.

Any set of layoffs would mark the fourth such instance by Microsoft in the past 18 months. Just last month,Microsoft as a whole laid off 6,000 employees, its biggest cut of any kind since 2023. Before that,650 jobs were cut in September 2024.

At that moment, it was unclear exactly which parts of Xbox could be impacted, though via new reporting, it appears thatForza Motorsportstudio Turn 10 could be one such area.

The Studio Is Reportedly Bracing For Incoming Cuts

, Tom Warren of The Verge noted specifically that, per sources, Turn 10, the studio behind Forza Motorsport, is “bracing for cuts.” Added speculation states that entire studios “could be closed.”

Turn 10, which has been behind the Forza Motorsport simulation series since the start, last released “Forza Motorsport” in 2023, a title that dropped the numbering conventions of past Forza games.

Following Warren’s reporting, Andy Robinson of VGC noted on Twitter that while he can’t confirm specifics, there is “negative chatter” coming out of the Xbox studios based in the UK.

Among the major studios in the UK that Xbox has under its umbrella are Ninja Theory and Rare and Playground Games. It’s unclear which of those, specifically, is the source of the “negative chatter.” Either way, it’s all created a tense situation as many wonder if their jobs are on the line.
