Summary
Fortnite’s latest Galactic Battle update has finally added Darth Jar Jar to the Item Stop, although fans aren’t happy about both how expensive he is and that he’s locked off until you earn enough XP.
WhenEpic Games finally shared all of the details about its latest Star Wars season, it mostly seemed like it was business as usual.Lightsabers weren’t being turned into Pickaxes, The Island was getting another Star Wars makeover, and a bunch ofexpected characters like Mace Windu, General Grievous, and Palpatine were about to join the fight. There was one special addition, though.
I am, of course, talking about Darth Jar Jar,a unique variation of Jar Jar Binks that is based on the popular fan theoriessuggesting the silly gungan was actually a Sith the whole time. Fortnite hasn’t done many non-canon Star Wars skins, so it was a treat to see such a well-known Star Wars legend headline the season. It doesn’t feel like such a treat anymore, though.
Fortnite Fans Think Darth Jar Jar Should Have Been An Edit Style, Not His Own Expensive Skin
You’ll Also Have To Unlock The Privilege Of Buying Him
Yesterday,Epic Games pushed an update that finally brings Darth Jar Jar and his regular, more friendly variant to Fortnite’s Item Shop. There’s a bit of a catch, though. Both skins, which cost 1,500 each if you’re not including the items they’re bundled with, are completely separate from one another, despite being obviously suited to edit styles. If you want both variants and their items, it’ll cost a whopping 5,200 V-Bucks.
This is like if Epic made you buy Invincible’s new costume instead of just adding it as an edit style for the original.
Over on Twitter, vbuckscurrency pointed out that they should have been one skin, calling it a “big scam”. That’s not the only downside to the whole situation, though, asDarth Jar Jar can’t even be purchased until you’ve grinded out more than a million XP, similar to the return ofRenegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper.
It’s not really clear why Darth Jar Jar is locked behind such a massive amount of XP,but fans are making their thoughts clear in the comments of a recent post from the official Fortnite account. They’re not happy about such a massive grind being introduced so late into the season, as well as once again pointing out that it’s ridiculous the two versions of one character are split up into expensive skins.
