It’s felt like a very long road to get out of Crime Cityand finally see a new season of Fortnite, but we’re finally at the finishing line as thelong-rumoured Star Wars season, Galactic Battle, finally goes live tomorrow on May 2(don’t ask why it’s not May 4). We’ve heard a lot about Galactic Battle since it was revealed at Star Wars Celebration, but we’ve finally been given a full rundown.
Like it always does before the start of a new season of Fortnite, Epic Games took to thegame’s official website to share the new gameplay details and features of Chapter 6, Season 3. A lot of it was hinted at in the reveal trailer, but we’ve now got full confirmation on the features and events of Galactic Battle, including one update that’ll depress a lot of fans.

But Don’t Expect Lightsaber Pickaxes
Over on the Fortnite website,a new blog post was shared that reveals everything coming to Galactic Battle, including a more detailed look at some of the new areas, such as a First Order Base, a Resistance Base, and even an area that’s based on thesamurai version of Darth Vader we recently got a skin for.
The blog also confirmed the obvious news that Lightsabers are coming back as a weapon, and one that must be found or earned on the map. Blue Lightsabers give you Force Push and Red Lightsabers give you Force Lightning (with a special variant for beating Darth Vader), but it seemstheir inclusion confirms they’renotgoing to become Pickaxes in this season of Fortnite.
Interestingly, the Force abilities are actually tied to the player and not the Lightsaber, meaning that anyone who loots one won’t get access to its powers. Not sure why, but it’s a unique twist.
Outside of that mixed bag, the blog also confirms a bunch of the guns coming with the season, such as the DL-44 Blaster Pistol and the A280-CFE Blaster Rifle.Galactic Battle will also introduce new flying vehicles in the form of TIE Fighters and X-Wings, as well as a Captain Phasma boss battle that can be discovered in the First Order Base.
Beyond that, Epic also revealed details about some of the events coming with the new Star Wars season, including a finale on June 7 that lets you “take the fight to Emperor Palpatine”. As if all that wasn’t enough,the unlock order of the Battle Pass was also revealed, with General Grievous being the extra bonus unlockable that’ll come at a later date.
