Dune: Awakeningtakes players on a wild adventure through the desert sands of Arrakis and subsequently on a quest to find the Fremen. To do so, you’ll be guided through a series of missions brought on by inhaling the spice; the first of these quests is known as the Trials of Aql.
Very early on in your journey on the planet, you’ll be prompted to find the first of these trials, which involves a series of stealth tests. Once you’ve been prompted, here’s everything you need to know to find and complete the first Trial of Aql in Dune: Awakening.
How To Start The First Trial Of Aql
When you first land on Arrakis,you’ll be introduced to a guide known as Zantara, who knows the planet well.
He’ll lead you through a series of introductory missions, one of which involves constructing a blood purifierin your sub-fief.
Once you’ve done this,you will start to have a visionthanks to the spice in the air inside your sub-fief.
In the early hours of Dune: Awakening,Zantara will be your go-to resourcefor survival on Arrakis.
Go to the ‘Journey’ menu in your hub to track various queststhat Zantara gives you.
After the vision is complete,you’ll receive a quest that prompts you to follow your inner sight to the first trial.
How To Find The First Trial Of Aql
Once the quest is unlocked, you’ll want togo to your map. On it, you’ll seea purple quest marker.
This is the location of the First Trial of Aql; you’ll need to head to this part of the introductory area to start the trial.
It’s important to note that,thanks to the sandstormson Arrakis,the exact location of the First Trial might vary slightly.
Follow the marker to find the exact location, which isusually within 2,000 meters of your sub-fief location.
With the quest marker in tow,head out into the desert sands, following the purple marker, which you can see on your compass hub at the top of your screen for quick reference.
Before heading out,make sure you use your new blood purifier to purify some bloodfrom nearby Scavengers, thus ensuring thatyou have enough water to cross the desert.
You’ll need to cross a large swath of Arrakis to reach the first trial, but once you do,you’ll see a cave entrance with stone pillars on the side.
Head inside the cave andfollow the path down.
Eventually,you’ll find a small bowl filled with spice. Inhale the spice to begin the trial.
How To Complete The First Trial Of Aql
Once inside the trial, you’ll be guided tocomplete a series of stealth tests against large floating eyes.
The trick to completing this trial is tostick to the shaded, dark areas of the map, avoiding the gaze of the eyes.
Before diving into each section of this quest,watch the pattern of the eyes carefully.
Some eyes open and close intermittently, while others are always open, but move their sightline periodically.
How To Pass The First Eye
Dead ahead, you’ll spot the first challenge. Passing this eyeis relatively simple.
There aretwo broken columnsin the eye’s path,hide behind them when the eye is open, and move between them to the right while the eye is closed to progress.
How To Pass The Second Eye
The second eye is a little different from the first.This eye never closesand always remains open.
To pass it,simply crouch and hug the low wallclose to the edge of the cliff. By doing this, you’re able to continue forward and pass the eye.
How To Pass The Third Eye
Like the first eye,the third eye also opens and closes intermittently.
Use your crouching and sprint abilities to stay out of the eye’s gaze.
Same as before,continue forward, crouching behind the low walls and columnswhen the eye is open, and moving when the eye is closed.
How To Pass The Fourth Eye
The fourth eye is a little trickier than the others, asit never closes, and also strafes its gaze back and forth.
The trick to passing this one is tostand underneath the partially collapsed bridge, moving as the eye’s gaze shifts from side to side.
How To Pass The Fifth Eye
The fifth eyeworks the same as the fourth eye, with one added twist.
Move underneath the collapsed bridgeas the eye moves side-to-side, and then sprint forward.
There’s a small gap in the path, so carefullyjump over the chasmand be careful not to fall as you progress forward.
How To Pass The Final Eye
The last eye combines all of the skills you’ve acquired during the trial thus far.This eye opens and closes intermittently, but has a wide field of view.
To progress, simplymove forward toward the eyewhile it’s closed, andcrouch behind outcroppings of rock when it’s open.
To get past the midway point of this eye,you’ll have to climb over one small piece of rock. Simply jump to grab onto it and then climb over quickly.
From there,head up the large staircase on your right to complete the trial.
