Square Enixhas a lot of different styles of collectibles; however, only its most popular games get the figure treatment. The Adorable Arts figure range, for example, is exclusively populated with characters fromFinal Fantasy 7, or at least it was until today.

Final Fantasy 9will be the second game to get its own range of Adorable Arts figures, with the first two characters joining its spinoff range revealed last night.Shared on Twitter by aitaikimochi,FF9’s Zidane and Vivi have been given the Adorable Arts treatment. Particularly if the long-running rumors about a Final Fantasy 9 remake end up coming true, and as is always the case when it comes to new FF9 merch, the reveal of these new figures has got that particular rumor mill turning once again. Will They Ship Before The Alleged Remake?

They’re now back in full force thanks to the new figures. The reactions to the figure reveals are peppered with comments like “Where’s my remake?” and “It has to be coming, right?” While a lot of these types of reactions can be labeled a bit of a reach, this is a rare instance of, despite there being nothing close to an official announcement, Square refusing to acknowledge the remake is real is starting to get old.

A Final Fantasy 9 remake was one of many games revealed viathe big Nvidia leak in 2021. Now that the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster has been revealed, every single game that was leaked via those documents other than FF9 has now been confirmed to be real.Yoshi-P has even commented on how he would approach a hypothetical remake, shooting down any hopes of a Final Fantasy 7-style trilogy.

Back to the figures, and whether you think their creation is indicative of an imminent remake announcement or not, hopefully, it will be here by the time they’re released. Pre-orders are now open for the Vivi and Zidane figures through Square’s Japanese store, butthey won’t ship until Jun 14, 2025.They cost 7,480 yen ($52) each, but there’s no guarantee that will be how much they cost in the US, if they are ever made available outside of Japan at all.
