Final Fantasy Coming To Xbox Was In The Works For Some Time

The reveal of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox puts to bed what was an increasingly developing saga that sawSquare Enixconstantlyreaffirm its desire to put its games on Xbox hardware, though with no announcements being made.

As recently as 2024, Naoki Yoshida said that Square wanted to “deepen the relationship with Xbox gamers going forward.” Following his words, rumors were constantly swirling regarding Final Fantasy’s move to Xbox, though, again, without any true movement.

Things reached somewhat of a head back in April, when it was revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, and, at the time, still no word on an Xbox release.

That has changed, and Xbox fans will be able to experience the first installment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga, as well as the franchise’s most recent entry. Already,Final Fantasy 14 is available on Xbox, along withseveral other titles via Backwards Compatibility, like Final Fantasy 13or via ports.
