Final Fantasy 14has had a pretty big few months, with both Cosmic Exploration and Occult Crescent both having landed, with players getting properly stuck into both. However, now that both have landed, it’s time to look at what else Final Fantasy 14 has in store for us in the coming months. That’s what today’s Live Letter was all about.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3 Is Called The Promise Of Tomorrow
Of course, as always, the live letter starts gave us the name of the patch and the release window. A lot of questions were left unanswered during the last set of story quests, and we should hopefully get some more clues as to where the story is going in Patch 7.3, which is called The Promise Of Tomorrow and will release in early August, and is being described as the “finale” of Dawntrail’s story.
As for what we can gather from the screenshots shared, it was quickly noticed that Sphene has a book on her hip, which suggests she may have been practicing her spellcasting between Patch 7.2 and now. We also see a screenshot of a mechanical soldier with a malfunctioning visor, some Erenville, and a shot of our main villain.
Crafting Allied Society Quests Are Being Added
It was also revealed that Patch 7.3 will add new Allied Society quests for crafters, all focused around the Yok Huy. We see some screenshots of what appears to be a robot made of stone, and some fluffy critters, possibly hinting at the quest’s mount and minion.
More Hilidibrand Adventures To Baffle Us
Patch 7.3 will also bring us some more classic hijinks from Hildibrand Manderville, as Nashu continues her love of eggs, and the sheriff of Shaaolani is seemingly getting involved.
A New Dungeon Called The Meso Terminal
Of course, a new set of story quests means we’re also getting a new dungeon, this time called The Meso Terminal. We see a large golden and purple room, which looks a lot like Solution 9, while there also appears to be more Alexandrain sections too, suggesting time travel shenanigans may be afoot once again.
A Mysterious New Trial
We’re also getting a new trial as part of the story quests too, though Yoshi-P was very reluctant to give details, refraining from even giving us its name. Very interesting, and we can probably assume it has rather large stoy implications. We won’t even get to see it in the next Live Letter either, so we won’t know what it looks like until patch day.
Echoes Of Vana’diel Part 2 Is Here To Make Us Suffer
Our big Final Fantasy 11-flavored Alliance Raid has been kicking our butts recently, and the second part is on the way in Patch 7.3. It’s called San d’Oria: The Second Walk, and will see us exploring a large castle and a frozen land.
The Last Stormblood Unreal
As expected, we’re getting a new Unreal trail called the Wreath of Snakes, which will pit us against Lvl 100 Seiryu, finishing off that particular set of Stormblood Unreals.
A New Treasure Dungeon For The Loot Gremlins
We’re also getting a brand-new Treasure Dungeon to grind for loot called Vault Oneiron. It looks very much like Solution 9, and will have new minigames in it, potentially featuring a rapping golden robot. Only in Final Fantasy 14, I guess.
Cutter’s Cry Is Getting Reworked
Final Fantasy 14 is continuing to rework some of the more archaic dungeons in A Realm Reborn, adding Duty Support for Cutter’s Cry this time around. Hopefully we’re not just sprinting past mobs in this new version.
We’re Getting Some PvP Updates Too
Of course, there were some updates for the PvP enjoyers out there, as PvP Series 9 is set to begin. We’ll be getting action adjustments, as well as a new Crystalline Conflict Arena called The Bayside Battleground. Just as the name suggests, it’s located on a beach, and won’t have any gimmicks this time. Additionally, Final Fantasy 14 will now be allowing duo queues in casual PvP.
Two New Crystalline Conflict Ranks Are Being Added
For the more hardcore PvPers out there, Crystalline Conflict is getting two new ranks past Crystal, those being Omega and Ultima. Yoshi-P explains that once you reach Crystal, your rank up/down will be determined by crystal credit.
We’re Heading To A New Star
Cosmic Exploration will also be getting some new content, this time in the form of a new star now that the Moongate Hub is almost complete. This new star is called Phaenna, and will bring with it further enhancements to Cosmic Tools and new rewards to earn.
Even More Grinding For Phantom Weapons
We’re also getting the next stage of the Phantom Weapon grind, as our meetings with poor ol' Gerolt will increase drastically when Patch 7.3 drops.
We’re Finally Getting A New Deep Dungeon
Dawntrail is finally giving us a new Deep Dungeon to grind, which can be tackled solo or in a group of up to four, and can be used to help level your jobs. It’s called Pilgrim’s Traverse, can be found in Il Mheg in Shadowbringers, and we’ll be “sliding” this time, rather than going up or down. Not really deep then, is it guys?
On top of that, a new feature for Deep Dungeons is being added this time, as a harder version of the floor 99 boss will be made accessible once you’ve beaten the dungeon, and can be accessed completely separately in a team of four Lvl 100 players.
Chat Bubbles Are Finally Coming
We’re onto the system updates now, as Yoshi-P revealed that the highly-anticipated Chat Bubbles feature is currently being worked on. It was explained that the team is “basically done with the feature”, but it just needs to be implemented now. It will be optional, disabled by default, and text will still pop up in the chat log.
Viera And Hrothgar Can Finally Wear Hats
No longer will Viera and Hrothgar have to go hatless, as it has been confirmed that more headgear options are being made available for both races, with more headgear being made available in future updates. Viera will have the option to hide their ears, or have them poke out of their hats.
That’s it for Patch 7.3 during this live letter, but more will be talked about in Part 2, including a housing update that will let you place more items. Features for Patch 7.4 and beyond were also discussed, including the Whiteboard feature for raid planning, but it’s not quite ready for a full discussion just yet. Plenty to look forward to in Patch 7.3 though, and I am happy for all the Viera/Hrothgar enjoyers out there.
