Final Fantasy 14fans are no stranger to pricey cosmetics. We get a decent amount of stuff for our subscriptions, but there will always be premium outfits and mounts that you have to buy with real money from the game’s shop,as Square Enix tries to wring as much cash from its golden goose as it can. It’s kind of seedy, but an expected part of the MMO service these days.

There is a breaking point though, and a lot of Final Fantasy 14 fans have reached it with the new outfit that has just gone on sale. Earlier today, Square Enix made theBelt-leather Attire outfit set available in its store, and fans quickly found out that it costs a whopping $18, which is definitely pushing the limit when it comes to outfit pricing.

Final Fantasy 14 Fans Furious Over Belt-Leather Attire Outfit Pricing

However, things went from bad to worse when people realized that not all the outfit is included in that $18 transaction. You can see fromthe store listing shared by Reddit user MrCornflks above, you’ll actually need to fork over an extra $6 if you want the matching gloves and beret, while a slightly altered version of the Belt-leather Attire will also set you back another $18.

That means, if you want the entire Belt-leather attire set, you’ll have to reach into your wallet and pay a staggering $42. That’s enough to get you a full game, yet Square Enix wants you to cough that up for a single outfit. Heck, you can grabClair Obscur: Expedition 33for $45 on Steam right this second,or literally every single mainline Fallout game for half that price.

Understandably, fans aren’t too happy with this new level of greed that Square Enix seems to have unlocked, with one fan in MrCornflks post saying it’s “disgusting how little shame there is”. Another user called Gentaro says that it’s “a new low” for the store’s pricing, and another called AkibasPants says it’s “actually horrendous”.

In a bid to try and get people to not buy the bundle and let Square Enix get away with this horrible pricing, some users are sharing methods for a makeshift outfit that looks similar. A user called Erik_t91 says that the Anemos Suspenders, Calfskin Rider’s Gloves, Bouncer’s Holster Slacks, and Star Crew Boots get you a similar look, and all of them can be found in-game for free.
