Things haven’t been going too well forFinal Fantasy 14over the past two weeks. Players have been complaining about the overall state of the MMO, includingnew attire that costs a whopping $18. This has led to amassive drop in the player count, and evenYoshi-P admits that the team may have dropped the ball.
To add to that, there have also been issues with the game’s latest field operation mode, Occult Crescent. The Forked Tower, which is its 48-player dungeon, has only been cleared around 400 times in three weeks, which is abysmal, considering how many players the game used to get. This was due to the game not letting players enter if your group is larger than eight. Thankfully, the update that was supposed to fix this issue next month was moved up.
Final Fantasy 14’s Forked Tower Entry Issue Has Been Resolved
In June, it was announced that the update to fix the Forked Tower entry issue would only come in August. Given that the community was already dissatisfied with the state of the game, it seems the devs decided to push the fix out yesterday in an emergency update. The two main fixes coming today were noted by Yoshida in theLodestone.
“During the broadcast, I spoke about the additional systems we will be introducing in relation to the Forked Tower,” said the announcement. “We have since decided to implement a portion of these updates in advance, during an emergency maintenance on all Worlds. Please allow me to summarize the details and explain our reasoning behind this decision.”
The two fixes that have been pushed up to today are:
The ability to enter the Occult Crescent instance with a preformed alliance of up to 48 players
Allowing auroral mirages to generate sooner after the Occult Crescent instance has loaded
Hopefully, these will emergency fixes will be able to solve the problem and the clearance rate for the Forked Tower dungeon will rise. “I’ve been feeling that our quality of service has declined recently. [There have been] too many bugs that we need to have an emergency maintenance or hotfix for,” said Yoshi-P in a statement last month. Hopefully, this will be the start of a new turn for the MMO
