It turns out,Final Fantasy 11may be one potential destination for a lot of players, as it seems as though the game has seen a recent surge in popularity over the past few months. It makes sense, given that Final Fantasy 14’s new Alliance Raid revolves around the characters of Final Fantasy 11, and Square Enix loves togive us subscription discounts every now and again.
Final Fantasy 11’s Most Popular Server Has Been Closed Due To Rising Player Numbers
However, it seems as though even Square Enix didn’t expect Final Fantasy 11 to become as popular as it has, as producer and director Yoji Fujito revealed ina post on the game’s official websitethat the influx of new and returning players has “led to a series of unexpected issues”, with most of the problems concentrated on the game’s most popular server - Asura.
In an attempt to “even out the World player populations”, Final Fantasy 11 is now temporarily suspending access to Asura. For now, players will no longer be able to transfer their characters to Asura, the ability to create new characters on the server has been temporarily suspended, as has the Vana’diel Adventurer Recruitment Program.
Finally, Fujito warns that the closure of Asura may see issues arise on other overly crowded World servers, but assures fans that “other potential measures” are currently being considered to try and spread people out a little bit more. It’s definitely a good problem to have, and maybe a damning indication as to how people feel about Final Fantasy 14 at the moment that they’d rather play a 23-year-old MMO instead.
