Summary
The Final Destination franchise has officially been revived. Final Destination Bloodlines, the first new installment in the series since 2011, is now in theaters, and if you’re still on the fence about whether it’s worth your time checking it out, take a peek at its review scores.
The reviews for Bloodlines are in to coincide with its release day, and right now the new Final Destination movie is sitting ona very impressive score of93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. There’s a chance that score drops over opening weekend, but four more reviews have dropped while I’ve been writing this article, and it’s holding firm on 93.
Bloodlines is the sixth Final Destination movie, and even though it feels like everyone of a certain age has seen, and loved, all five, this revival is the first one to review well. That means Bloodlines is not only the best-reviewed Final Destination movie to date, but it has blown the prior five movies out of the water.
Bloodlines Is Very, Very Good
Better Than Any Final Destination Movie To Have Come Before It, Apparently
The next highest-rated movie in the series is also the newest - or at least it was until today - Final Destination 5. The 2011 film that brought the curtain down on the franchise for almost a decade and a half was a Rotten Tomatoes peak at the time with a 63 percent. It’s another significant drop after that to Final Destination 2 on 52 percent, Final Destination 3 got a 44 percent, the first movie scored just 40, and the ill-fated 2009 reboot brings up the rear with just 28 percent.
As for what reviewers are saying about Bloodlines, the big takeaway appears to be that its revival has achieved something the original five movies never could. While the gory campiness that made the older movies great remains, it has been married with a seriousness that wasn’t there before. A successful homage to the Final Destination quintology while also giving it a fresh coat of paint for an entirely new generation, exactly the balance it needed to strike to be a success.
Not only does a score of 93 percent make Bloodlines the highest-rated Final Destination movie so far, but it is also among the 20 best-reviewed movies of 2025. Right now,it’s level with Companion and Paddington In Peru, both of which also scored 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Something for everyone, and quite the movie marathon if you’ve got some catching up to do and want to watch them all back to back.
