Jason Schreier responds to rumours.

In response to Jez Corden’s claim that Fallout 5 has been “fully greenlit”, Bloomberg reporterJason Schreier said on ResetEra that"Xbox didn’t lay off thousands of people so they could move those resources to new projects."

Falloutis an incredibly popular franchise forBethesdaandXbox, having recently seen crossovers with the likes of Magic: The Gathering, and got its own Amazon TV show. That makes it especially galling that we haven’t had a proper Fallout game to sink our teeth into for almost seven years, and almost a decade if you don’t countFallout 76. That’s a long time with no Fallout.

Thankfully, it seems as though Bethesda is taking steps to remedy this,as it was claimed multiple Fallout games are in development right now, including that rumored Fallout 3 remaster/remake. Well, we can now add one more game to that pile, as it has now been reported thatFallout 5has been “fully greenlit”, and is officially moving forward in development.

Fallout 5 Development Is Reportedly Moving Forward With An Unknown Studio

This comes from Microsoft insider Jez Corden, who claimedin the most recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast(thanks GameSpot) that Fallout 5 has been greenlit, but is “not entirely sure” who is actually making it. Corden believes that Bethesda’s core studios are currently working on moreStarfieldDLC as well asThe Elder Scrolls 6, which would make sense sinceTodd Howard has said that The Elder Scrolls 6 is coming before Fallout 5.

In a perfect world, this would mean that Obsidian Entertainment could have another crack at Fallout, since everyone loves Fallout: New Vegas. That probably isn’t the case though, as Corden says that this is more likely Microsoft or Bethesda setting up another team specifically to work on Fallout, giving the franchise dedicated resources, instead of constantly playing second fiddle to The Elder Scrolls.

Now, it’s worth mentioning that even Corden says to take this info with a grain of salt, as he hasn’t had enough info from sources for a proper story. It’s very possible that Bethesda could be working on Fallout 5, it could be an entirely new team that’s spun up for the series, or it could be an entirely different developer altogether. All that Corden is certain of is that Fallout 5 is now fully in development, so I’ll see you in 2080 for the game’s release.
