Gen Con 2025 kicked off today with a teaser-packedDisney Lorcanapanel. Ravensburger communications directorGreg Titohosted the presentation along with chief marketing officer Elaine Chase and international product manager Naomi Kim to shed some light on the upcoming Fabled set and reveal some details about this fall’s Whispers in the Well expansion, and Beyond.
The panel, which commemorated Disney Lorcana’s second anniversary since debuting at Gen Con 2023, provided some important post-rotation details for the TCG, including some of the cards that will see reprints in Fabled, dates for upcoming set championships and pre-releases, and a confirmation as to when we’ll finally see Pixar characters in Lorcana - they’re coming sooner than you’d think.
Here’s everything revealed during today’s Disney Lorcana Gen Con 2025 panel.
New And Old Cards Coming To Fabled
Disney Lorcana’s upcoming 9th set, Fabled, will be both the first expansion after Lorcana’s inaugural rotation and, subsequently, the first reprint set. Ravensburger confirmed today that the 204-card set will include 33 brand-new cards, and a whopping 171 returning cards from the first four sets. That’s roughly 84 percent of the set. Here’s how the set breaks down.
Additionally, Fabled will include 18 Enchanted cards (12 new, six reprints), 18 Epic (seven new, 11 reprints), and two Iconic cards. The Iconic cards, Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince and Minnie Mouse - Sweetheart Princess, were fully revealed during the panel.
Every Enchanted in Fabled will have new, alternate art, including the reprints.
Dumbo, And Powerline, And Ursula, Oh My!
Dumbo is making his debut in Fabled as a suite of Evasive-focused cards. We got a sneak peak of two cards: Timothy Q. Mouse - Flight Instructor and Dumbo - The Flying Elephant. The latter will be featured as the Ravensburger Seasonal Promo, available at various conventions and Lorcana events throughout the season.
As previously revealed, A Goofy Movie will also make its debut in Fabled. Today we got a closer look at a Floodborn Powerline card as well as its Enchanted. We also saw two new songs, Emerald’s Stand Out and Ruby’s I2I, which will have an iconic and enchanted version, respectively.
Additionally, Ravensburger revealed three new reprints coming to Fabled for Emerald, Ruby, and Steel. Aggro/Tempo Emerald players will be pleased to see Cursed Merfolk - Ursula’s Handiwork make a return, while Ruby players get a direct answer to it in Sisu - Daring Visitor. The big winner here is Steel, who gets to hang onto Strength of a Raging Fire post-rotation. Maybe Steelsong will survive the culling after all. These three cards will be Fabled’s weekly play promos that you’re able to earn by playing at your local game store.
Ravensburger revealed two other Fabled Promos. Alice - Adrift is Fabled’s Buy a Box Promo, while The Queen - Conceited Ruler will be the pre-release promo.
Important Dates And Updates For Fabled, Whispers In The Well, And Beyond
Fabled’s prerelease week starts at local game stores August 29. Today Ravensburger confirmed that Fabled’s set championship schedule is set to run through each weekend in October. Those dates are October 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, and 25-26.
During the panel we also learned the release dates for set ten, Whispers in the Well. Prerelease week will begin November 7, with the full retail launch following on November 14. Whispers in the Well is said to be a detective-themed set that will introduce “detective” as its own classification. The set puts a spotlight on Zootopia heroes Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, just in time for the premiere of Zootopia 2. Ravensburger revealed some of the product packaging for the set, which features Judy, Robin Hood, Megera, Simba, Gaston, Daisy, and Gargoyle’s Demona.
Finally, we got our first taste of what’s coming beyond Whispers in the Well. Q1 2026’s set will be called Winterspell, which will explore the winter season in Lorcana. The key art depicts Stitch snowboarding alongside Angel, who will appear in the game for the first time next year.
We also learned that Toy Story is coming to Lorcana in the set following Winterspell, arriving in Q2 2026. This is the debut of Pixar in Lorcana, and it’s surprisingly coming before the next set rotation in late summer 2026.
New Lorcana Products To Expand Your Collection
Two new products are launching October 3, right at the start of Fabled’s set championship season. The first is a Collection Starter Set, which includes a 4-pocket binder, four Fabled boosters, a collector’s guide, and a glimmer foil promo card for Tinker Bell - Giant Fairy. An Elsa Gift Box will also be released that day, which includes five packs, a storage box, three dividers, and a glimmer foil promo of Elsa - The Fifth Spirit.
We also got our first look at the Disney Lorcana puzzle line. At launch there will be six 1,000-piece puzzles, each featuring one of the six ink colors, and will come with a Mickey Mouse - True Friend promo card. The puzzles will be released July 07, 2025 at Destination D23.
Fabled spoiler season officially kicks off today, so be on the lookout for new (and old) card reveals over the coming weeks. It’s nice to see each of the ink colors retaining some of their power, let’s just hope they don’t gettoomany of their old tools back. I’m looking at you, Steelsong.
