Even if you’ve been collectingPokemon TCGcards for years, you might be wondering what in the world Trainer’s Toolkits are. In short, these Toolkits were introduced in June 2020 as a way to encourage and inform competitive deck-building strategies for you to employ in real games.
Since they’re primarily sources of competitive cards, Trainer’s Toolkits remain fairly affordable collector’s items, as these cards were intended to be used rather than collected. However, as sealed product collections continue to become more popular to compile, these previously disregarded products are beginning to rise in price, as they become more difficult to find.
Boxes are ordered according to theirTCGplayermarket price. All available Trainer’s Toolkits were included, but further releases are likely.
5Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit 2021 – $27.07
Simple And Clean
The Trainer’s Toolkit from 2021 hails as the sophomore iteration of this unusual Pokemon TCG product, following the debut of the box in 2020. It included special promo cards featuring Brycen & Sabrina, as well as Mismagius, which were allunique Sun & Moon era promo cards.
The Marnie and Leon cards were also available in the Sword & Shield Build & Battle Box.
Plus, this box also includes special editions of Marnie and Leon trainer cards to fill out your competitive deck. These trainers fit well with most of the other cards included in this box, with every other card aside from the promos hailing from the Sword and Shield era.
4Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit 2023 – $29.02
The Rise Of Arceus
While Arceus is hailed as the creator of all Pokemon, its most valuable cardsaren’t as expensive as you might imagine, and this 2023 Trainer’s Toolkit featuring Arceus similarly fails to climb the ladder. However, if you’re a fan of Arceus, then you can find two promo cards featuring this Pokemon, with unique artwork from their Brilliant Stars versions.
Aside from the wonderful variety of cards you’d receive within this box, you also get four packs, which typically include two Paldea Evolved packs, one Scarlet & Violet base, and one Silver Tempest pack. You already nearly equal the price of the box with the packs, and the rest of the cards included easily make up the difference in this bargain Trainer’s Toolkit.
3Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit 2024 – $30.31
Full Of Paldean Pals
If you’re looking forsome valuable Paldean Pokemonto hold onto in your collection, then the 2024 Trainer’s Toolkit provides you with the opportunity to add a competitive deck and four more packs to your collection. While the pack inclusions aren’t specified at this time, you can bet that they’ll include a selection of Scarlet & Violet sets, ensuring that you should find some potentially valuable Paldean Pokemon.
This box claims a very slim lead over the 2023 version, and given how small the margin is, we’re expecting these boxes to trade places in the future. Whichever one claims the higher placement in the long term, they’ll struggle to make up ground to catch up to the next most valuable Trainer’s Toolkit.
2Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit 2022 – $43.08
Purple Perfection
Returning to the Sword & Shield era, the 2022 edition jumps out to a wide lead over its next closest competitor, thanks in large part to the collection of four Sword & Shield era packs included in this box. If the random chance to pull some extremely valuable Sword and Shield era cards wasn’t enough of a draw for you, then you’ll want to consider the other cards included here.
The Lumineon V promo is a beautiful inclusion, and you’ll also get several cards that originallydebuted in valuable Sword & Shield sets, like Fusion Strike, Brilliant Stars, and even Evolving Skies. While these cards aren’t as valuable as the Alternate Arts you could potentially pull from the packs, it’s nice not to have to buy those expensive packs to find cheaper, playable cards.
1Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit 2020 – $46.22
Where It All Began
The debut Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit takes home gold as the most valuable in the history of the Pokemon TCG. Its red color palette is perfect, and gives this box a Rotom phone-like color palette, with similar markings to boot. While the four-pack selection you receive in this box isn’t particularly stellar, you’ll still enjoy some gorgeous Alternate Art promo inclusions, like the Dedenne from Unbroken Bonds.
Pack selection typically features one Burning Shadows, one Sword & Shield Base, and two packs of Rebel Clash.
Reset Stamp from Unified Minds and Mallow & Lana from Cosmic Eclipse are cool inclusions to fill out this box, and solidify it as the most valuable Pokemon TCG Trainer’s Toolkit released thus far. Expect these boxes to continue soaring as they disappear from the marketplace.
