With over 30 games and almost two decades of history,Assassin’s Creedhas become a household name in the video games industry since the early PS3 and Xbox 360 days. We have played with many assassins and eliminated countless targets in the historic settings.

While the series had, more or less, a general structure until AC Syndicate, it transformed into something else in Origins. Since then, Assassin’s Creed has become a franchise of huge games with plenty of things to do in them, like side quests. Have you ever wondered how many side quests the latest Assassin’s Creed titles have? We have answered that for you.

Unless specified, we will be counting only the side quests/World Events of each game, leaving out collectibles and other types of tasks.

6 ‘Side Quests’

While you could argue that Mirage shouldn’t be included in the list, we have decided to add it due to its release being between some of the biggest titles. Mirage was an attempt to bring the series to a more focused experience after three big titles, with a smaller location and more curated activities.

The result is, unsurprisingly, the modern AC entry with the least amount of side quests. You could even argue that it doesn’t have any, since these tasks are labeled as something else (Tales of Baghdad), but they do work as side quests. Even if we wanted to add other optional content (such as the investigations and the 19 contracts), Mirage would still fall too short when compared to its bigger brothers.

A game that you’re able to play for months, thanks to its massive world and the spectacular amount of downloadable content it received, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla features 128 ‘side quests’, called World Events in-game. They are shorter, more focused tasks than the ones in previous titles, but they still offer plenty of rewards and things to lose hours with.

While the main game has 112 World Events, the Wrath of the Druids expansion added seven more, while Siege of Paris included nine new World Events. This is without including all the challenges, collectables, and other types of activities included in all the DLCs. The Vikings were hungry for content.

Assassin’s Creed Origins was the game that originated (sorry) the modern AC. The entries to come will feature RPG elements, like skill trees and loot systems similar to titles like Diablo, and such enormous locations that you could spend dozens and dozens of hours without seeing everything they have to offer.

The base Origins included 102 side queststo meet new characters, target victims, and find items, among other activities. Further DLCs, The Hidden Ones and The Curse of the Pharaohs, would add the remaining optional missions included in this entry, not to mention some interesting other things to do, like defeating mythological bosses.

The continuation of Origins would change the setting from Egypt to Greece, with all the historical significance that this implies — the vast Greek Mythology is represented here, of course, and you’ll even find popular philosophers like Aristoteles.

Origins also keeps up the tradition of a massive world to explore, with 118 side quests to complete, and this without including any of the DLCs. We reach 144 if we add ten optional missions from the free downloadable content that this game received over the months after launch, and 16 tasks with its proper expansion, Legacy of the First Blade.

Odyssey also received the expansion The Fate of Atlantis, split into three episodes with many missions in each one of them. However, we consider all of these tasks as a mandatory part of the DLC’s story, so it wasn’t included in our final count.

After the mild reception of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft delivered an entry thatwent back to the ‘modern’ roots. Shadows is another vast, giant open-world game set in Japan. This time, you can play with two protagonists that not only have completely different playstyles, but also their stories go on different paths.

This is something that we can find in the side quests, as it’s the first Assassin’s Creed that has exclusive side quests for each protagonist. Speaking of side quests, this is one of the fields where you can see that the series returned to shape, with 145 side quests, making it the AC with the most side missions in the whole series. If that wasn’t enough, at the time of writing these lines, this is still a somewhat recent game that hasn’t received any DLC.

As you would expect, Naoe’s side quests are more focused on defeating enemies silently, while Yasuke’s tasks make you use brute force and slash your enemies to victory.
