Alright, so when it comes toFinal Fantasyprotagonists, they’re almost always too busy saving the world to find time to do much of anything else (if you discount all the mini games they find time to play). But what would happen if, after they saved the world, they took some time out for themselves to enjoy a good game or two?
Which characters would enjoy diving into a long game of their own series, or potentially someone else’s? Would Vaan get a kick out of FF9? (You know he would). How many hours would Final Fantasy actually consume in their personal lives?
15Lightning
Final Fantasy 12
If there’s one thing Lightning is not doing, it’s playing video games, even if the game is Final Fantasy. With her serious nature and no-nonsense attitude, you won’t see her sitting down and playing her own game.
Lightning wouldn’t be caught dead wasting hundreds of hours on a story, especially not one about romantic love. She’s far too serious for that type of nonsense; she does other jobs when not saving the world, such as modeling for Louis Vuitton. Lightning has not and will not touch a video game.
14Cecil
Final Fantasy 4
Muhc like Lightning, Cecil can’t be bothered with playing a Final Fantasy game. While he might have logged just a few hours on weekends as a child, surely upsetting Kain even more, that’s all the time he would have had to play.
He may relate to some of the shy or insecure characters throughout the series, but he wouldn’t put much time into playing video games at all. He’s busy, stoic, and is too busy trying to ensure he knows who he is to try and take on the life and personality of another protagonist in a Final Fantasy game, leading him away from picking up the series as he gets older.
13Warrior Of Light
Final Fantasy 1
As standard and vanilla as his personality, the Warrior of Light would barely play Final Fantasy, and wouldn’t venture to any other game. He’s pretty one-note and would likely follow this personality through to playing video games, generally not devoting much time to them.
The Warrior of Light has that old man feel to him, and he couldn’t be bothered to learn anything past the SNES. With that, he would give the game a try, but probably won’t play for long.
12Squall
Final Fantasy 8
It’s always the serious types that feel like they’re too cool to play Final Fantasy. To be fair, he suffers from a form of amnesia, and he may not remember which Final Fantasy he’s meant to be playing, or even why he should be playing.
All in all, Squall is putting little to no time into playing any video games, even if he stars in them himself. The only thing he would be playing is Triple Triad in Final Fantasy 8, giving him some actual hours in a video game, to not be at the bottom of the list.
11Cloud
Final Fantasy 7
You might be surprised, but under that brooding exterior, Cloud might actually be invested in playing some video games. The problem is, his depressive nature won’t allow him to enjoy them, or even continue past the beginning, before he begins to complain about the game for one reason or another.
He would, however, be a mini-game savant, which is the only reason he isn’t lower on this list. The man loves the small stuff he can quickly dip his toes into, so he would play all the mini games in his own game happily, before eventually dropping it. He’d probably enjoy some quick mobile dailies from the plethora of Square Enix mobile titles out there, but his actual gaming time would be very low.
10Bartz
Final Fantasy 5
Bartz and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins go hand in hand. A main character built for strength, he would love the pure adrenaline and strength displayed in Stranger of Paradise, making the genre the perfect type of Final Fantasy game for him.
He probably won’t play much outside of Stranger of Paradise, but he’d definitely max out everything the game has to offer. Once he beats the 100 percent completion at about 50 hours, he probably won’t pick up another Final Fantasy game.
9Terra
Final Fantasy 6
You might think Terra would be too busy to play Final Fantasy, but it’d be quite the opposite, actually. Terra would plow through tons of the Final Fantasy titles for their rich stories and character development. She would spend a lot of hours going through stories just to see how much she relates to the stories of these other characters.
Set some time aside, because Terra is going to be playing through every Final Fantasy game for quite some time, truly immersing herself in the story. She will be completelyinvested in every plot twist, but probably won’t spend more time than necessary on each game.
8Firion
Final Fantasy 2
Firion is a surprisingly focused character, so when he does play Final Fantasy, he will play the same game over and over. He’s a master at excelling at one single thing at a time, so whatever Final Fantasy he decides to focus on at the moment, he’d play it until he’s maxed out everything.
From max leveling every character, to unlocking every option available, and uncovering every secret, he would 100 percent run whatever game he’s playing. He would love Final Fantasy 11 for its difficulty and ever evolving gameplay.
7Tidus
Final Fantasy 10
Give a Blitzball player the chance to practice Blitzball in video game form, and you’ve got someone who will spend all his hours not on the field, practicing the game while playing Final Fantasy 10. Leave some time for romance and sessions with the team and hangouts with the other guardians, but expect to see Tidus dropping tons of hours into playing Final Fantasy.
Whether it’s to relive the journey, practice Blitzball, or check his reflexes while dodging lightning, he will be on the game. He’s only lower because he’d actually hang out with his teammates and other guardians, limiting some of his gaming hours.
6Luneth
Final Fantasy 3
Luneth would love playing Final Fantasy games. As someone who always wants to jump into the next adventure, he’d be delighted to see where the next entry in the series takes him. He’s adaptable, so he’d enjoy every single game he tries out.
Like the plethora of classes he can choose from in FF3, he’d enjoy trying out every game to master it before moving on to the next one. His determination will keep him playing past any boss he comes up against. While he’d be too excited to jump into the next adventure, he’d still happily revisit some he’s already done.
