Elden Ring’sNintendo Switch 2port could launch soon, as it’s been rated for release by the ESRB. Launching asElden Ring: Tarnished Edition, this will make both the base game and theShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion available on a Nintendo console for the first time.

We already knew that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was coming to Switch 2, but we were never told the release date beyond a vague 2025 window. Now, it looks like the release date announcement is coming soon, and the launch itself might even be closer than we thought, if it’s gotten through this regulatory process.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Has An ESRB Rating, Release Date News Expected Soon

This was spotted byMy Nintendo News, who noticed that the ESRB has given Elden Ringthe go-aheadto release on Switch 2. With this in mind, it’s likely that we’re getting some news at the Bandai Namco Summer Showcase this Wednesday - or even a release, if we’re lucky.

Elden Ring was among the first third-party games to be confirmed for Switch 2, joining the likes of Street Fighter 6, Split Fiction, and Cyberpunk 2077 - the latter of which hit the console on launch day. This shows a drive to diversify the offerings on a Nintendo console, so it isn’t just a machine for Nintendo’s own first-party games. Thisdoesn’t appear to have been much of a success so far, but it is still early days yet.

In Elden Ring’s case, this is not just a port, as its launch will give players on all platforms extra content.Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will include two new classes, the Knight of Ides and Heavy Knight. They will be added to the other versions of the game for free at the same time, so they are not exclusive to Switch 2. There will also be new armour and customisation options, althoughgiven the wording in the announcement, it seems that these will be released on other platforms through paid DLC.

In any case, it seems like the port and the new content will be with us soon. If we don’t hear anything at the Bandai Namco showcase (which is unlikely), then we may be left waiting until the next Nintendo Direct - or just a random update on the Nintendo Today app, sincethe company has taken to doing that recently.
