The best part of PC gaming is getting mods that add features or fix bugs in our favorite titles. The latest notable creation forElden Ring Nightreignadds a timer for the storm, a feature sorely missing for anyone who’s familiar with battle royale or extraction games.
Elden Ring Nightreignshares many similarities to both genres while being a PVE only game, and borrows elements from each, while remaining uniquely in the Souls-like style that we know and love from the team atFromSoftware. The ever-encroaching storm closes without warning and can be stressful when deciding how much time you have left to grab as much loot and gear from the mini-bosses scattered around the map.
Thanks to this modcreated by leopinnheiro, Nightreign Auto Storm Timerhelps you know how long is left in each phase and removes a bit of the pressure as you try to squeeze out one more level before the end of the night. It’s an easy mod to install without requiring other mods and is safe for online play, unlike some of the other mods available on Nexus Mods.
“It Helps You Track When Storm Phases Begin And End"
Exactly What It Says On The Tin
Nightreign Auto Storm Timer is a configurable timer overlay to let you know just how long until the storm begins closing in and how long each storm shrinking phase lasts. The mod also features hotkeys to manually track the storm phases, or you can just let the mod automatically advance each phase.
One of the most important elements to this mod is that it’s safe for online play. There are many mod out now that either drastically change the game, likeHardmode Bosses, which unlocksall of the special boss phases that team just addedin the recent patch on a rotating basis.
In addition, there’s been a recent wave of cheating mods that aregiving players perfect relics, impossible stats, and the ability to one-shot bosses, which ruins the experience for others when played online. I bet that this storm-tracking mod is going to be called cheating as well, even if it’s on the much tamer side.
While it is a shame, cheat mods are common in the modding community, but Elden Ring Nightreign does have a player report feature, and cheaters areallegedly being banned already. Although the community has frequently requested an official update to help players track the storm, FromSoftware is known for sticking to their design choices and such a feature seems unlikely, making the Nightreign Auto Storm Timer a valuable addition.
The modding community for Elden Ring Nightreign is just getting started, and I’m excited to see what they’ll come up with next.Nightreign’s latest patch injected many new features, and gave all of us hope for continuous updates, something that’s made even better with all of the mods going around.
