Elden Ring Nightreignis hard, and that’s kind of the point of it. It’s a roguelike, which can notoriously be difficult, combined with aFromSoftwareSoulslike— challenge was all but guaranteed. There are some valid complaints that the game may be a littletoohard,especially when playing solo, but with practice and perseverance, even newcomers to the genre should get to grips with things.
It seems, though, that many players don’t have the patience for that. Since its release last week, the fledgling Nightreign community has been frantically modding the game to do away with some of its trickier elements.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Most Difficult Aspects Are Being Removed
Over the last week, Elden Ring Nightreign has received 63 mods onNexus Mods. While many of them are cosmetic or designed to help run the game smoother, a handful have set out to simply break the game, making it completely different from what FromSoftware intended.
One of the first mods, which has been downloaded over 1,700 times, is completely antithetical to what the game designers were trying to achieve. If you’ve not played Nightreign, it has a circle much like many battle royales, which closes as time goes on. If you’re outside the circle, you’ll take persistent damage, adding a further layer of stress to proceedings. Naturally, one player has decided toremove damage from the outer circle, something 100s of others clearly wanted.
Another pair of additions which completely defeat the point of the gameadd passive HP and FP regenerationto Nightreign, and allow players the opportunity tohold more Wending Graces, which ultimately allow you to revive players after they fall. If that’s not enough, though, the Wending Grace mod also allows you to start with two in your inventory as you kick off a run.
Finally, a second pair of mods sets out to trivialize the game’s leveling system. One mod, downloaded by around 500 players,starts you off with a Gold Scarab in your inventory, boosting Rune gain by 15 percent. If a 15 percent boost isn’t enough for you, though, you can do away with leveling costs altogether, with a mod thatsets the level up cost to zero runes, something more than 800 players have done.
While I appreciate that Elden Ring Nightreign is a tricky game, some of these mods seem very much like overkill.
Although some players are clearly struggling, that hasn’t stopped others. Elden Ring Nightreign hasconsistently had over 100,000 players since launch, becomingone of FromSoftware’s best-reviewed games in history, scoring a4.5/5 from TheGamer in the process. And whilethe developers continue to tune the gameto make solo mode easier, one player has put everybody to shame,soloing the game within days of it coming out.
