Elden Ring Nightreigngot off to a pretty rocky start,opening to ‘Mixed’ reviews on Steamas players criticised everything from the lack of voice chat to the intense difficulty. But, likeShadow of the Erdtreebefore it,players are finally coming aroundnow that they’ve gotten to grips with all the changes to the formula.
As of writing, with over 71,000 reviews, Nightreign sits at a respectable ‘Very Positive’, the second-highest rating that you may get on Steam. “Great with friends, surprisingly fun with randoms. If you are a fan of Souls games, try it,” suggested IcEDF. “Really good for unemployed people,” Sambamuel said with over 110 hours logged. “A tough chew at first, but becomes a satisfying meal when you’ve finished it,” Sniffles wrote.
After playing it for a bit and getting a better understanding, it’s a good game.
To climb to the top score, Nightreign would need at least 95 percent of the reviews to be Positive. That might seem like a lot, but it clawed out of the 40-69 percent bracket in less a month. With DLC and future updates still to come, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Nightreign to make that leap. Maybe duos will earn it that top spot; either way, it has beaten Shadow of the Erdtree’s overall ‘Mostly Positive’ score.
Elden Ring Nightreign Is Just On The Edge Of Steam’s Top Ten Most-Played Games
Not only is Nightreign doing incredibly well in reviews, winning back players in a matter of weeks, it’s alsogoing strong in terms of player count. At the time of writing, it has a 24-hour peak of 152,000 players, which puts it on the knife’s edge of Steam’s top ten games;

It’s also the seventh best top seller on the platform, just behindDeltarune,Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic,Stellar Blade, Broken Arrow, Rematch, andDune: Awakening.
There’s a lot that fans want to see from Nightreign, namely duos, voice chat, and cross-platform play, but it’s pulled off a redemption story in record time nonetheless. It’ll be interesting to see how things shape up in a few months time, especially afterduos are added at the nebuluous “later date” that FromSoftware promised. Cross-platform play after that, yeah?
