Summary

FromSoftwaremight not have any interest in makingBloodborne 2or remastering the original, but at leastElden Ring Nightreignhas an unlockable ability that’s ripped right from the Hunter’s arsenal.

One of the most interesting things aboutElden RingNightreign (aside from it being the series' biggest leap into online gaming) is that it’s somewhat of amish-mash between several other FromSoft games. We’ve discussed at length all of thereferences to the various Dark Souls games, but that’s only just scratching the surface.

Favor of the Rotten Woods in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Before Elden Ring Nightreign launched,a trailer showed a character who looked incredibly similar to Bloodborne’s Lady Maria, sparking some hopes that FromSoft’s much-missed masterpiece might be getting in on the cameos. While it certainly doesn’t get as much love as Dark Souls does, there is one very interesting little nod to the game.

An Unlockable Favor In Elden Ring Nightreign Might Seem A Little Familiar

Oh Rally, How We’ve Missed You

When you get good enough to beat a Nightlord in Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll unlock random events called “Shifting Earth” that basically add whole new areas to the map that can be explored. You can then launch an Expedition that means that area will be naturally folded into the Limveld, where they offer their own unique objectives.

That also means getting a unique reward for beating that area. In the case of the Rotted Woods (which is a massive scarlet rot forest that I’m sure everyone willlove), the reward is called Favor of the Rotted Woods, which “nullifies scarlet rot and increases max HP”, as well as letting you partially recover health if you attack after receiving damage. Sound familiar?

These Favors only last for the duration of a run, so you’ll want to make the most out of your Bloodborne nostalgia. It is a very helpful buff, though, and well worth picking up.

I probably don’t need to explain to you thatFavor of the Rotted Woods is basically just Bloodborne’s game-changing Rally ability, which was a core part of its gameplay loop. In that game, being aggressive and hitting back was rewarded with some regained health, something that can now be done in Elden Ring Nightreign if you’re skilled enough to get through the Rotted Woods.
