Like many many aspects ofFromSoftwaregames, the character stats inElden Ring Nightreignaren’t very clear. Based on the character you choose, they are ranked in an alphabetical format, with S being the highest. Normally, you’d think levelling your character to the max before fighting the final boss would be a good idea, but it’s actually a waste of your time.
As pointed out byPC Gamer, legendary FromSoftware dataminerZullie the Witchdecided to take a closer look at the character stats and how they work. As expected, it seems each level up increases your stats incrementally. The higher the alphabetical grade, the higher the increase in the stat. However, this revealed that Nightreign actually has a soft cap before max rank.
Here’s How Elden Ring Nightreign’s Stats Work
In a YouTube video, Zullie explains that gunning for the highest rank in Nightreign may not be the best strategy. While the max rank in the game currently is 15, levelling up beyond 12 is almost fruitless as it simply raises stats by one or two points. A better use of your runes would be to use them on various buffs.
“While functionally this uses the same stat spread as Elden Ring, the formulas seem to have been changed for how both the stats themselves and weapons scale, so you’d end up with quite a few different numbers if you tried importing one of these builds exactly as they’re set up here,” noted Zullie.
Each Nightfarer’s level progression is different too. For instance, A rank for Wylder does not scale equally to A rank for Deadeye. So, if you really want to min-max a character, you’ll have to get a good understanding of their stats. Just remember that progressing past level 12 is just a waste of your runes.
As of now, the hardest part of Nightreign is finding a third person to join your party. Whileit is possible to play solo, the game was designed to be played with three players. FromSoftware has announced that aduos option will be added eventually.
