Of the Everdark Sovereigns inElden Ring Nightreign, Augur is perhaps one of the easiest to best - at least, once you understand the gimmick. She’s a one-trick pony that requires you to do some studying before you go waltzing blindly into her boss arena.

With our help, you will have all the dark secrets of the night on your side when you walk into Augur’s battlefield. Banish her and the night with Storm Ruler - the weakness of Maris given by the very same Nightlord. It is almost as if Augur herselfwantsyou to beat her. And who are we to refuse?

Wylder, Recluse, and Ironeye gather around a legendary drop from Everdark Augur in Elden Ring Nightreign.

58,900 (Duo)

88,260 (Full Party)

Unlike other bosses, where you need to be careful about which areas to visit and what weapons to pick up,none of this matters for the Augur fight.

You will be given aLegendary form of your starting weaponwith a unique Ash of War: Storm Ruler.

Wylder inspects their features and highlights All Resistances Up as an effect in Elden Ring Nightreign.

This Ash of War will be the only way to reliably damage Augur in its second phase.

As there is nothing to search for weapon-wise for a build against Augur, prioritize that which increases your health, Stamina, and Resistance(to Ailments) is a good idea. This includes:

Duchess uses Storm Caller against Maris, the Everdark Sovereign in Elden Ring Nightreign.

We also recommend that youbring the following items:

The Warming Stone will be uniquely useful during the fight, as you will be spending long periods of time stationary and charging your Ash of War.

Because Augur always gives you a weapon that scales with your character and is the same across the board, there aren’t really any characters that do better than another.Do what feels comfortable to you.

If any charactershaveto be picked, those with good mobility and Stamina will shine the most. These include:

Everdark Augur uses a laser beam to down Ironeye as Wylder dodges in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Wave Breaker

Augur will spin in the air and gather blue energy around herself. After a brief delay, a wave will rush up from the ground and begin to slowly move forward across the arena.

Keep your distance from close-range with Maris. As the wave forms, note the direction it is facing andsprint to the side of the wave. If desperate, chain-dodge forward and be prepared to heal.

Wylder sprints around a wave as it forms under Everdark Augur in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Night’s Divide

Augur flies high into the air and then stagnates as it gathers blue energy at its head. It releases a blue laser that cuts in front of it, starting on the ground below and then raising swiftly. A field of blue will light up the ground around where the laser struck, and an explosion will move like a wave across the field from the beginning to the far edge.

Sprint left or right. Continue sprinting, dodging at the last second in that directionif unable to escape the blue field.

Augur uses a Magic Barrage on Wylder in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Star Barrage

Flying into the air, Augur spirals and begins to let loose a rain of magic around players' locations. As these star-like orbs fall from the sky and land, they have a delayed small explosion around them. The Augur fires multiple waves of this attack.

Unlock from Augurand watch where the stars fall.Do not move until you’re certain where to goand dodge or sprint out of the way of their range as necessary.

Duchess locks onto Maris as she darts by with the Night Crown in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Charge

The simplest attack of Augur’s repertoire. Like the previous phase, Augur charges forward in a spiral. This attack is slightly longer and wider than the older version.

Dodge forwardthrough the charge just as Augur flies over you.

Night’s Crown

Augur will spin into the air and around the arena in a wide circle. Purple orbs will appear around Maris’s head. These orbs intermittently fire beams of magic at players, the number of lasers evenly divided between them.

Target these orbs and use Storm Rulerto destroy them. If not able to charge or fire fast enough, dodge once to the sideas the lasers near.

Duchess holds and charges Storm Ruler as Everdark Augur falls from the sky in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Thankfully, this Everdark Version has a very short list of new additions to its movepool. Because of its simplicity, defeating Augur becomes less of a skill test and more of a battle of attrition.

Learn Augur’s short moveset, and you’ll be well-prepared to go the distance with Augur’s exceptionally beefy health pool.

Duchess runs to the head of staggered Maris, the Everdark Sovereign, in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Forming waves is the biggest threat in Augur’s arsenalwhen considering damage potential and visibility. Indeed, the thing that makes these wave attacks so brutal is their ability to sneak up on you if you don’t see them form.

To accurately dodge them, you shouldsprint around themto either side. If you’re in a tight spot, you can attempt to chain-dodge straight through it; however, you are guaranteed damage this way.

Duchess defeats the Augur Everdark Sovereign in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Star Barrage is a deadly attack in how easy it is to underestimate. Although it will primarily target one player, smaller groups of orbs can and will fly out to other players.

As they fan out, it is recommended totemporarily turn off your lock-on functionto look at where these orbs are flying and dodge or sprint accordingly.Do not underestimate the rangeat which these orbs will explode.

The most important of the attacks during this fight are from the Night’s Crown: the purple orbs encircling Maris. Every few seconds, these orbs will fire at all players on the field and be divided accordingly. This means thatmore players equals less beams fired per person.

These orb attacks can bedeflected with your Storm Ruler attack, and your Storm Ruler can likewisedestroy these orbs temporarilyto stagger the Augur.

Night’s Crown can stack with all attacks in Maris’s movepool. This means you can be juggling both Night’s Crown at the same time as a wave or the Star Barrage, adding a sharp difficulty curve if several of the crown’s orbs remain.

How To Defeat Everdark Sovereign: Augur

Everdark Sovereign Augur is agimmick bossthrough and through. She isn’t hard; she just takes getting used to.

Unlike other Everdark Sovereigns, her second-phase health bar is drastically shortenedto make the bulk of her fight the new ruleset.

For information on that short version, see Phase Two of our official guide.

Once Maris’s brief first phase is cast aside, she’ll leave you with the gift to defeat her:a Legendary copy of your starting weapon with Storm Ruler. This weapon is much like Serpent Hunter in Rykard’s fight in Elden Ring.

To defeat Maris, you mustuse Storm Ruler against her.To use Storm Ruler, hold down the button you’d use for triggering an Ash of War. As you hold down the button, two things will happen:

Like Serpent Hunter, charging this weapon will grant you a stronger variation on your attackagainst Maris. To unleash it, simplypress an attack button(Light or Normal) to fire a beam at our resident jellyfish.

Once you’ve mastered Storm Ruler, the next step is knowing what to hit. When Maris begins to use Night’s Crown at around 70 percent health, target the purple orbsinstead of Maris.

By targeting the purple orbs, the following will happen:

Unfortunately, Maris is so large that you cannot Critical Hit her. Don’t try. Spend your time laying into her with powered-up Storm Ruler.

With these priorities squared away, the fight becomes one of patience and perseverance.Chip away at Maris’s health, and keep your eye on her attacks.

As you fight her, keep the following in mind:

With no small amount of perseverance, you’ll persevere over Maris. In exchange for your determination, you’ll be rewarded with access toa new Everdark Sovereign Relic:

Maximum HP increased.

Continuously restore HP.

When HP is low, slowly restore HP for self and allies.
