It’s been three years since the launch ofElden Ring, but we can’t be sure that we’ve discovered every secret and reference in the game. I’m sureMiyazakiand crew have hidden some secret that is yet to be discovered in the far reaches of The Lands Between or the Land of Shadow from theShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion.

However, it seems some players are only now discovering some new things in the very first thing we see with regard to the game. This secret can be seen before creating your character, before waking up in The Lands Between, and even before inserting the disc into the game. The cover art of Elden Ring features a more Tarnished, and people are just noticing.

Vyke Isn’t The Only Tarnished On The Elden Ring Cover

By now, you can probably visualise the Elden Ring cover art in your mind. Vyke kneeling down with a sword thrust into the earth, the Elden Ring above him, along with the title of game, and a desolate landscape with various points of interest from the map. However, what you may not have noticed is that there are several bodies lying around Vyke, and they’re not just random enemies.

As pointed out byNasz316, the three bodies lying in the dirt belong to Ensha, Jerren, and Dung Eater, all fellow Tarnished that you’ll come across in the course of the game. Although, some speculate that it’s Vargram, not Dung Eater.

The Erdtree in Elden Ring

“Is it bad to say this is the first time I even noticed there were other bodies in this art? I swear I only ever saw Vyke,” said one comment. “I’m with you, all these years I never looked close enough at this piece to realize they aren’t just rocks,” said another. Onew even went as far as saying, “Is it bad that I didn’t even know it was Vyke? I guess I never really took a good look at the cover art after the first time back when Elden Ring came out.”

However, the dead Tarnished aren’t just a fun little gag – we know that’s not how FromSoftware works. Ensha, Jerren, and Dungeater lying dead around Vyke could actually have some lore implications, as it denotes the sheer destruction that Frenzy brings.
