There’s not much to celebrate about on Arrakis, there’s sand everywhere, massive sandworms always on the hunt, and inDune: Awakening’s version, tons of cheaters andgriefersas well. PvE players have been complaining about griefers for a long time, while cheaters and dupers are responsible for messing with the game’s economy.
However, it seems the rain has finally come down upon the desert in the form of a ban wave. While Funcom has been hesitant about banning players, despite the sheer number of complaints and reports, it seems the BattlEye anti-cheat is now banning a number of players for a variety of reasons.
Dune: Awakening Cheaters Are Finally Getting Banned
As pointed out bygbrahahon Reddit, it seems a number of players are getting kicked from their games and getting banned. While the reasons haven’t been specified, it’s likely that these are cases of cheating, particularly duping, as it’s one of the easiest cheating methods to catch by the developers.
Unfortunately, it may take some time for griefers to get banned, as those cases are much harder to track. Regardless, the player base is celebrating at the fact that at least some of those who’ve been ruining the game are getting reprimanded.
“Cannot wait for the “why am I banned” posts to start popping up,” said one comment, clearly having no pity on cheaters. “Cheater tears will turn Arrakis into a paradise,” said another. One comment even went as far as saying," They should definitely give out an unbreakable literjon called “Cheater’s Tears” to everyone as a sorry."
In fact, it didn’t stop there. Players want the devs to publicly shame the cheaters. “The “why am I banned” email chains are going to be fun and I really hope that Funcom names and shames,” said another player. “So many people in my guild lost absolutely everything.”
Duping has especially been a major issue in the game. It was so rampant that those who were doing it were blatantly showing off how much spice melange they had in their coffers. In fact, once the old method of duping was patched out, players found a new one almost immediately. Hopefully, this ban wave ushers in a new era upon Dune: Awakening’s Arrakis.
