Earlier this week, Funcom hosted a Reddit AMA for one of the year’s biggest games so far,Dune: Awakening, and many of the questions revolved around endgame and PVP balance. Today, the developers responded on their Discord regarding the feedback, with a message from the Creative Director coming tomorrow.

The Dune: Awakening teamfielded many questionsabout PVE, PVP, and the state of the endgame during the AMA and promised a response tomorrow on their vision for the future of the game.

The Community Shares Their Hopes For Future Changes

The Spice Wars Are Heating Up

Now that we know Funcom is working on improving Dune: Awakening, the community has shared some of what it wants tweaked. “Honestly, I’d settle for making the Landsraad tasks endless even after they are completed, so they are not locked down 5 seconds after they go live, and everyone can contribute to get the rewards.” Hmuda on the Dune: Awakening subreddit.

Landstraad Contributions are one of the endgame systems that reset on a weekly basis. It’s essentially a Bingo board of tasks that players on the server can complete and claim for rewards. The issue is that once a certain number of players claims a tile, the task and rewards are locked out for everyone else, which penalizes playerswho can’t sit around waiting for the weekly reset timer.

Not everyone in the community is as hopeful for meaningful change, though. “[I’m] Waiting for them to triple down on how everything is just fine and working as intended,” saidNew_Philosophy_1735. Many others lamented the developer’s insistence on their vision and the likelihood that their concerns will go unaddressed.

Another major complaint is regarding how effective the scout ornithopter is when using the rocket attachments, with many players are hoping for nerfs to this meta.

“Why are you giving the SCOUT ornicopter [sic] missiles?” - Korha4X

Dune: Awakening features a few different ornithopter types (picture a helicopter with dragonfly wings) but it sounds like the balance is not there yet. Currently, the scout flies the fastest while being just as effective in combat as the much slower assault variant.

Another common wish is for reasons to use ground vehicles. The current state of the game heavily favors the use of air vehicles, both in PVE and PVP, and players want more reasons to use the array of vehicles they can create.

“The current balance between vehicles and on-foot is not tuned to our liking and there are multiple changes in the pipeline to address this (above and beyond bugs we will fix),” said Joel Bylos. We’ll have to wait and see how the team as Funcom responds to these and other concerns tomorrow.
