Dune: Awakeningis enjoying a stellar start to life. Players are relishing living their best survival lives in Dune’s treacherous world, withits smooth launchenticingtens of thousands of playersto build bases, farm resources, grief their fellow Duners, and even figure out ways toglitch onto Sandworms for free rides.
While much of thereception around the game is positive, some players have begun to reach Dune: Awakening’s endgame content, and if they’re playing alone, they’re already considering giving up.
Dune: Awakening’s Solo Players Aren’t Having A Fun Time With The Endgame Content, But Why Are They Even There?
Dune: Awakening’s endgame has many strings to its bow. There’s the massive PVP area, Faction quests to complete, and the fight for resources to develop, create, and upgrade endgame equipment, like the max-tier Ornithopter. If you’re part of a guild, or at least have a bunch of players you regularly jump in with, it’s great. Solo players, on the other hand, don’t seem to think so.
Just a few days ago, we said, “I always knew that Dune: Awakening was going to be a struggle for solo players,” with the cost of upgrading highly sought-after Ornithopters, for example, extremely high. Now, with the game having been out for a few days, it seems like those solo players are finding that out for themselves.Over the last 24 hours or so, the Dune: Awakeningsubreddithas been awash withdiscussionsabout whether the game is solo-player-friendly. Onethread, started by Aphoneuser1, lamented the grind, saying the “Endgame is not for Solo Players,” adding, “It takes so long to farm Spice Melange as a solo player and the last tier of items asks for so much of it. It’s impossible to try to get a Carrier Ornithopter so that you can carry an also impossible Sandcrawler.”
While many players shared a similar opinion to Aphoneuser, Gambrinus offered a slightly morebalanced thought: “I feel like it’s fine that there are complex operations that take multiple people to carry out in the end game, but I would hope there would also be meaningful gameplay loops for solo players.”
It takes so long to farm Spice Melange as a solo player, and the last tier of items asks for so much of it.
Complaints about Dune: Awakening’s endgame were plentiful, but many players came to the game’s defence. “I mean, it wasn’t ever SOLD as an endgame solo play game. Also, what are you trying to do? Speed run it? If you’re looking to get through the endgame content in the first week, then maybe that’s a bit unrealistic,“saidOdd-Sun7447. Sad-Barracuda-4407 agreed, saying, “Most MMOs [players] are not able to complete most endgame activities solo, so while it does suck, it makes sense.”
Realistically, it’s probably too early to make a call on how solo-friendly Dune: Awakening will be, especially given the fact thatsome players are anticipating the grind to the endgame to take a very long time, but that’s not stopped people from complaining either way.
