After the ban wave hit last week, it appears Arrakis is still home to a group of straggling cheaters. That’s according to oneDune: Awakeningplayer who’s trying to drag the remaining cheaters into the light and face justice (or a ban, whichever comes first).
As reported byPC Gamer, one Reddit user has continued to detail the exploits of a group of well-known hackers on Dune: Awakening servers who have survived theBattlEye ban wave that occurred last week. In aReddit threadtitled “More video evidence for Funcom to ignore,” user SpooN04 opens with a monologue about the cheaters, saying that all the players on the server “know their names,” adding “There have been HUNDREDS of reports with evidence just like this. We have been reporting them since near-launch.”
The group has inspired the rest of the server to band together and attempt to get the group of cheaters banned, but players have reported no such luck despite the “entire server” reporting the group for cheating. But this one player isn’t having it. They’ve made it their crusade (despite countless sacrificed ornithopters) to continue reporting the hackers until they’ve been removed from the server.
The group of hackers can be seen very clearly deploying game exploits/hacks to manipulate game functions, and this skew in favor of the hacking group has made it a nightmare for other players on the server. Fans say that Funcom knows about this group of cheaters, citing countless complaints and minutes of evident footage (including the video in the Reddit Thread), but they’ve so far dragged their feet where this group is concerned.
Trying To Expose The Dune: Awakening Cheaters
The cheaters are seen in the video piloting a carrier at the speed of an MK6 Scout and entrapping SpooN04’s ornithopter. The carrier can then be seen flying away, dragging the ornithopter with it at the same fast speed. It’s almost comical how the carrier speeds along, clipping at 6 FPS but flying much faster than that as it entraps opposing ornithopters to be dragged off and executed. There are many videos of similar scenarios spread throughout the community.
Interestingly enough, although there are countless posts to the r/DuneAwakening community exposing the cheating group, it appears Dune: Awakening (or at least the staffers who run the official social media account), are aware of the community, as it has reposted a video showcasing other player creations this week from the same Reddit community.
SpooN04 comments: “The hackers have said that I am personally on their hit list now. But I will keep sacrificing thopters for video evidence until Funcom’s CS finally lifts a finger. All in all, they will not rest until the hacking group is brought to the ban list.
