Sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Especially all over your carefully constructed Base inDune: Awakening. Unfortunately, you’re able to’t have a Dune game without sand, so no matter how fancy your new base is, it’s eventually going to get covered with sand and your windows will surely get dirty.
Usually, the only way to clean up the sand is to use the repair option in your construction tool. It’s a long and slow process, and there’s a lot of spice to huff. However, it seems someone has found an easy way to keep your base and windows clean. The Static Compactor is usually for extracting spice from sand, but it turns out it makes a great vacuum cleaner as well.
Even Arrakis Has Cleaning Season
As showcased byHmudaon Reddit, simply using the Static Compactor on any surface covered with sand will immediately zap it away and make it look as good squeaky clean. It also works on windows, so you can finally let the sunshine in once again after a sandstorm.
“On an absolute whim, I decided to use the [static] compactor on my home, since it’s been collecting dust since it was built,” they said. “Not only does it clean it up, it does so in a pretty big area. If you want to keep your house clean, you no longer need to use the repair function on the construction tool any more.”
While getting sand on bases and windows doesn’t affect gameplay all that much. Neat freaks like me probably want to keep their bases sparkling. With this method, we finally have an easy and convenient way to get rid of all the sand that’s been bugging us after the recent sandstorm.
“Holy s**t, finally! Started playing yesterday and the dirty windows were such a major annoyance,” said one comment. “Oh wow, I’d never have guessed that, but it’s a really cool feature. I quite like the weathered look on my base, but being able to clean it is really nice and something they didn’t have to add,” said another.
So, the next time you have some down time in Dune: Awakening, make sure you whip out the Static Compactor and clean the place up.
