While we know thatDragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remakeis set tocome out later this year on Oct. 30, and thatDragon Quest 12, the next mainline entry in the franchise, is currently in development, it appears thatSquare Enixmight have a thirdDragon Questgame up its sleeve.

What’s more, it might be releasing very soon.

Dragon Quest 7 Could Be Making Its Way To A Modern Console Near You

As first reported by MP1st, Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is apparently getting a remake. Information comes by way of an internal document that shows the game being targeted for either this fiscal year or early next year.

The game, which was originally released on thePlayStation1 before making its way to theNintendo 3DS, stands as one of the most underrated, as well as lengthy, entries in the franchise. MP1st goes on to state that the distinction of “Remake” leads them to believe that it could be a lot bigger than a simple graphical touch-up.

Beyond coming into contact with an internal document, MP1st also states that it saw a brief teaser showcasing the game’s logo against a cloudy background that could be used as part of Square’s overall marketing strategy.

Of course, as with any rumor, especially those related to Square Enix and its large number of JRPG franchises, it’s probably best to take things with a grain of salt. Still, as far as rumors go, it’s rather believable, especially considering the work Square has done as of late when it comes to bringing forward older titles from the series. Given the timeline that was presented in the report, it shouldn’t be too long before we find out for sure whether this rumor is true or not.
