Summary
After years of silence since the release ofPsychonauts 2in 2022,Double Finehas finally revealed its next game during theXboxGame Showcase -Keeper, which is coming October 17.
Thanks to the release of games likeOblivion Remastered,South of Midnight,Doom: The Dark Ages, and more, Xbox has beenhaving one of its best years in recent memory. As if all of that (and everything else that’s coming this year) wasn’t enough, we just got aglimpse of everything else that’s in the works during this year’s Xbox Game Showcase.
Before the show, one of the developers that we all expected to see show up was Double Fine, who haspreviously confirmed that it’s working on multiple titles. Considering howlong it’s been since Psychonauts 2, Double Fine seemed like a very safe bet for the showcase, which was proven true with the reveal of its next game.
Double Fine’s Next Game Is Keeper
I Was Sold Before I Even Saw It
During the Xbox Game Showcase, one of the best announcements of the show (yes, I’m biased) was for Double Fine’s next game, which is called Keeper and sees you playing as a walking lighthouse through a very strange world. The Psychonauts vibes are very strong with this one, minus the fact that the story will be told without any words at all.
It’s nice to see Double Fine back to releasing smaller and more experimental projects, like they used to do in the days of Xbox Arcade.
Surprisingly, Keeper is actually coming this year on October 17, so we’re not that far off from being able to experience it for ourselves. As the number one Double Fine fan, I’m going to be there on day one, even if I did briefly trick myself into thinking we were seeing a reveal for Psychonauts 3.
