Summary
Doom: The Dark Agesis officially out, andwhile the Steam numbers for the id Software-developed title aren’t the strongest, especially compared to Doom Eternal, it seems like those who are playing the game are enjoying it well-enough. Critically,it is one of the highest-rated entries in the Doom franchise, andits Game Pass inclusion almost certainly has more people jumping in than they would have otherwise.
That said, it appears that a point of contention for players has been the melee and parrying. However, via a new mod, that issue seems to be fixed.
There’s No Slo-mo In Hell, Anyway
Over on Nexus Mods, creator SkallEdit has released a new mod that helps speed up the act of melee or parrying. Dubbed the SlowMoBREAK mod, it allows players to modify the speed of the actions to their liking, including increasing them to a more breakneck pace.
Right now a parry looks a lot like this:
But with the mod, it should look more like this:
It’s unclear if the YouTube uploader is the same as the NexusMod creator, though the end result should look largely the same in terms of game speed.
Naturally, the mod has become a big hit among those who play on PC, with 1,500 downloads and counting within four days of its initial release (May 15).
“Thank you so much for this,” one downloader wrote. “The slo-mo made me rage-quit. Now, the game is so much better. I love you!”
That seems to be a familiar sentiment, as multiple users professed their love for the mod creator in the mod’s discussion tab. Either way, the mod seems to be a step in the right direction, particularly as fans criticized the lack of Glory Kills, as well asthe focus on the Shield Saw.
