Today isDoom: The Dark Agesrelease day. The first newDoomgame for half a decade, and the first chance most of us will have to play it, unless you had early access and you’ve already been playing for a few days. Joining The Dark Ages to celebrate its launch is a Doom Slayer action figure, and it will kick off a whole new range of highly detailed toys at MacFarlane.

MacFarlane revealed a first lookat its very detailed Doom Slayer action figure based on how the protagonist looks in The Dark Ages the day before the game’s official launch. At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking this new collectible is more than just an action figure. It looks more like an expensive statue, something that has become synonymous with video game collector’s editions.

It really is an action figure, though, as is reflected in its size. The Elite Edition figure is seven inches tall, so quite a bit smaller than most costly video game statues. The smaller scale doesn’t appear to have led to the finer details being watered down, though. In a follow-up post, MacFarlane has shared some of the specific features of its new Doom figure, as well as some of the accessories that come with it.

Here’s A Very Detailed Doomguy Action Figure To Celebrate

There are a lot of weapons for you to discover, choose from, and upgrade in The Dark Ages, so it only makes sense that its matching Doomguy action figure comes with a few options too. Even though only one of the included weapons can be seen in the solitary image of the action figure shared at the time of typing this, there will be four to switch between, and two interchangeable sets of hands for Doom Slayer to hold them in.

The figure will also come with a stand so it can be properly displayed, and an exclusive Doom: The Dark Ages art card. As noted, this is the first in what will presumably be an expansive new MacFarlane line eventually called Elite Editions. Not only is it expected that the Elite figures will be of a higher quality, but buying them will earn you Elite Points, part of a new reward system at MacFarlane.

How exactly those points can be exchanged and what you will be able to exchange them for isn’t yet clear. The other differences between MacFarlane’s regular figures and its new Elite Editions are the window display box they are packaged in, which will be “enhanced with premium gold foil highlights”.
