Summary

Doom: The Dark Agesis already out for those who paid for early access, but for the rest of us, the gates of Hell open tomorrow. While thenew weapons, gore and, open-worldare the main attractions of the game, it seems there’s a handful of people who are pondering over the Slayer’s face.

While there are some who think he’s cute, most are puzzled about how he looks so young. The lore of the Doom series is absolutely confusing, with multiple dimensions, alternate Earths and several hells. I won’t presume to know anything about it. However, considering how young he looks here, fans are very confused about how old he really is.

How Old Is The Doom Slayer?

Doom: The Dark Ages isn’t shy about showing the Slayer without his iconic helmet. But this has caused a bit of confusion among fans about the timeline for the series. Some thought he didn’t age, while others surmised that he must have been in his teens in earlier games. Unfortunately, id Software hasn’t given us a proper timeline, so it’s all up to interpretation.

“He must’ve been so young when hell first invaded Mars,” said a Reddit post with a picture of the Slayer’s face. “And then he grew up so much over those thousands of years. So tragic he was clearly just a kid/young man in his very early 20s when his story started.”

“If we take the fact that Doomguy was based off the player first, it’d be funny that his age reflects that,” joked another comment. “He’s 20-23 in the classic games, 24-26 in the Dark Ages, and all the Hell Stress, excercise, and fighting ages him up to his late 30s/early 40s.”

“I thought he didn’t age. But is it canon?” asked another confused fan. Perhaps he just ages much slower than human beings. “He’s seen it all. All the trauma, torment and agony; of course the stress would change his face,” surmised one comment. “I always thought he looked perfect as an aged man in Eternal (Ancient Gods), and looking at his face for Dark Ages, he looks like he just stepped out of Doom 64!”

In all likelihood, there’s not much more to it than the devs deciding to change up his face between different arcs in the long-running series.
