Donkey Kong Bananza might be one of 2025’s best games, but it seems that the incredible destruction is proving too much for players and resulting in some of them getting motion sickness.

Back when the Nintendo Switch 2 was first revealed, I was lucky enough toattend the console’s preview and get to go hands-onwith many of its games.Donkey Kong Bananza was one such game, and even though I liked what I played, I walked away from it feeling very queasy for one reason or another.

Ignoring the food poisoning I had, Donkey Kong Bananza’s wild camera and constant destruction left me feeling more than a little ill. I figured it was just a me problem, butit seems that other players are struggling to play the game without suffering from severe motion sicknessas well.

Donkey Kong Bananza is causing some players to get motion sickness for the first time

And no one really seems to know why

Over on the Nintendo subreddit,Redditor vruchtenhagel shared a post revealing that they’d started feeling sick within 45 minutes of playing Bananza, noting that they’ve never experienced motion sickness from gaming. Despite that, they wrote the post on their phone while about to throw up and pinned some of the blame on Ingot Isle’s “claustrophobic” camera.

You might just think that this is an isolated issue, but it’s not the only thread to pop up about Bananza causing motion sickness since it launched.Redditor CN122 also posted on the subreddit to note that they can’t play for more than 30 minuteswithout feeling sick, which is a shame since they were “looking forward to this game and am genuinely enjoying it”.

I’ve only played Bananza in handheld mode myself since it launched, and started feeling sick pretty quickly after booting it up. Here’s hoping that the Docked mode sorts me out a bit.

The comments section of both threads and some other posts are full of players saying that they’ve experienced the same thing, and that turning off the gyro and camera shake hasn’t helped things too much. It’s really not clear what’s specifically causing such a widespread issue right now, but theintense destruction, close camera, and all the shaking seem like likely culprits.
