Since most physical games are on discs or tiny cards nowadays, themed cartridges are mostly a thing of the past. That didn’t stop oneDonkey Kong Bananzafan from spray painting theirSwitch 2card yellow, though. Whatever you’re thinking the consequences of doing something so silly might be, I promise you, they’re so much worse.
TikTok user Gardnerhas shared their journey from opening up their physical copy of Bananza for the first time to asking the internet for help since their copy of the game is now jammed inside their Nintendo Switch 2. Sorry, I skipped a few steps there. It starts with Gardner showing us his shiny new Bananza cart, peeved that it’s red and not yellow likeDonkey Kong 64and Donkey Kong Land’s cartridges.
No bother, he’ll fix that himself. The process begins with Gardner awkwardly prying open the Switch 2 card so that they can remove the part inside with the actual game on it before dousing the card in paint. The painting process throws up additional issues as the plastic case is so light, trying to spray paint it sends it flying off in various directions.

Don’t try this at home, not that you ever would
Once the banana-yellow paint job is complete, Gardner pieces the card back together and proceeds to insert the game into their Switch 2. Well, they try to. The first part of their Bananza respray story ends with the realization that the game no longer fits in their console, either because a new layer of paint has made it slightly bigger, or because the card hasn’t been put back together properly.
There is a part two to this story, though, because eventually, off camera, Gardner somehow manages to jam their yellow copy of Bananza into their Switch 2. A word of advice I can’t imagine any of you need: if a game won’t slot effortlessly into your Switch 2, don’t then proceed to jam it in.
If you do, as Gardner has now discovered, the card won’t come back out. The second video shows them trying to yank the card out of the console using pliers to no avail. All it does is chip yellow paint off the game, some of which falls into the console. The most shocking part is the implication that the game still runs. Garnder claims it doesn’t matter that Bananza is stuck in there, as that’s all they’ll be playing for a while anyway.
Playing Bananza might be off the table too, as the second, and as it stands final, video from Gardner reveals that, in their attempts to rip the painted card from their Switch 2, they’ve managed to snap the top of it. Maybe if Gardner’s attempts to turn Bananza yellow go viral enough, he can dowhat GameStop has done with one of its staple-damaged Switch 2sand auction off his now-infamous console to make enough money back to buy a new Switch 2 and play a red copy of Bananza like the rest of us.
