If anybody knows how to get its audience excited about a game, it’sNintendo, and its recentDonkey Kong BananzaDirect is a shining example of that. The 15-minute showcase finally confirmed thatPauline would be DK’s companion, thatwe’d be getting a new Amiibo, and that two players would be able to play the gameafter purchasing just a single copy. One of the biggest reveals, though, was the fact thatDK would have the ability to transform into other creatures, giving him powerful abilities.

As time has gone on, players have been scanning the trailer to try to find further clues about the game. They knowtrying to understand the timeline is a bit of a lost cause, but they think they’ve alreadyfigured out who Bananza’s true villain is, and now, they have a theory about just how many other animals' shoes Donkey Kong will be able to step into.

Donkey Kong Could Have Five Transformations In Bananza, Theory Suggests

During theDonkey Kong Bananza Direct, Nintendo showed off three transformations for DK. The first was Kong Bananza, a stronger, more destructive version of the beloved primate. The second transformation seen was Zebra Bananza, in which DK becomes a rapid zebra, able to traverse the terrain quickly. Finally, it showed off Ostrich Bananza, an ostrich version ofDonkey Kong, which allows him to fly around the world, dropping bombs on those below. While you might assume these are the only three, eagle-eyed viewers have other ideas.

In a new screenshot shared by Nintendo (and prominent Twitter userStealth40k), we got a look at the game’s upcoming skill tree. This tree seemingly shows that Donkey Kong can invest skill points into his Kong, Zebra, and Ostrich Bananza transformations, but there are two spots that have been suspiciously left blank. Fans think that these two spots are left for future, unannounced transformations.

It’s already been confirmed that Donkey Kong can swim, so there have beenpredictionsthat he will be able to transform into a swordfish or another aquatic creature, and others have suggested perhaps there will be a mole transformation or something similar that will enhance DK’s digging abilities.

Whatever it is, my interest is piqued, and July 17 can’t come soon enough.
