A reliableValveinsider has detailed the latest batch ofHalf-Life 3(also known as HLX) leaks and doubled down on the claims that it’s in the “final” stages of development.

The past year and a bit has been a total rollercoaster for Half-Life fans. Thelong-awaited third game has seemed like it would never happen for a while now, but there’s been more and more evidence that it’sactually nearing the end of its development, which keeps beingcemented as more and more leaks and teases have come out.

While Valve has, of course, said nothing about Half-Life despite every other weekhaving some new kind of discovery from Source’s code, the leaks do seem to suggest that work on HLX is coming along nicely. In fact, one reliable Valve insider thinks that the latest batch of leaks is even more proof that it’s nearly finished.

No, really, it looks like Half-Life 3’s development is nearing its end

That’s as long as Valve doesn’t give up on it

Earlier today, reliable Valve insider Gabe Follower shared a video that goes over some discoveries that have been madethanks to a recent update to Counter-Strike 2. If you don’t know, Valve’s games all run on the Source engine, so a lot of things can be found in its code wheneverDeadlock,Counter-Strike 2, or DOTA 2 get an update.

Gabe Follower points out that the last time Counter-Strike 2 synced with Source was almost a year ago, which is why there’s so much to glean from the update.

As always, some of the code found in Counter-Strike 2’s update directly references HLX, which is believed to be the codename for Half-Life 3. One example that’s highlighted is a string of code that relates to how bodies ragdoll in-game, while another refers to the elasticity and density of character models.

To be honest, a lot of the discoveries are very technical and minute (and much better explained by Gabe Follower), but they do all point to work on Half-Life 3 progressing smoothly. In fact, Gabe Follower says that it’s a sign that Half-Life 3 is “in good shape” and doesn’t seem like it’s “getting shelved any time soon”. With that in mind, it really does seem like Half-Life 3 might have a shot of getting revealed in the near future.
