As if 2025 wasn’t busy enough already with everything that’s been announcedand released in the past few months, it’s about to get even busier now that we’re in the Summer of gaming news. The leaders of the pack this time around is PlayStation, who decided wedidn’t have enough to do with SGF and announced a State of Play out of nowhere earlier this week.
Although a few things were leaked or heavily hinted at by insiders, there was a lot we didn’t know anything about for this State of Play. That made it a very nice surprise when some things popped up,including a release date for Digimon Story: Time Strangerand a bunch of new gameplay footage.

The Long Wait Is Nearly Over
Tonight’s State of Play was full of out-of-nowhere announcements, but a big one was the latest trailer for Digimon Story: Time Stranger. We got to see a bunch of new gameplay footage for Time Stranger which showed off its promising turn-based RPG gameplay and world, but the best bit came right at the end.
After years of waiting for a proper new Digimon game, we now know that we’ll be getting it in just a few months time on October 3, which is when Time Stranger is set to launch.Pre-orders for the game have now gone live, which makes it all feel a lot more real that it’s actually going to be in our hands this October.
There was a bit of controversy caused from the announcement, though,as it was confirmed that Time Stranger is going to be locked at 30fps, for some reason.
The next Digimon game has been in development for such a long time that it was a big surprise to see it finally get a proper release date. We’ve known for some time that it was set to release in 2025, but we finally have a solid release date for it. Now we just have to hope that it can both stick to it and stick the landing.
